Hello folks,
I’m been receiving electrolysis on the eyebrow area for 3 months now and I thought I’d post an update in case anyone was planing to get treatment in the same area. I’m a 22 year old white male and I’ve always had thick eyebrows and a monobrow.
I began plucking the hair when I was 15 and did this for several years. I became frustrated with the amount of time this was taking, the amount of ingrown hairs I had and the wating time when hair was too short to pluck. I tried other methods, Waxing required the hair to be a certain lenght and even then I was afraid I’d make a mistake and take too much off. I then used kalo in cojunction with plucking for about a year, Then I found out that kalo doesn’t do anything (Well that’s my opinion and the opinion of pretty much anyone I’ve asked about it). The next thing I tried was a handheld ‘electrolysis’ device that used a cotton bud instead of a needle, This again did nothing but take up my time and money.
Then last December I finally went for proper electrolysis. I chose a beauty salon in a good area with a good reputation. They have 2 machines capable of diathermy/blend (I’m getting diathermy, called thermolysis in the USA) and several practacioners who are quite skilled. The first few sessions were used to get clearance. After these my skin would go very red for about a day and I would devolop white spots where the hair had been removed. I was doing 2-3 15 min sessions per week then, but it was still better than plucking every day.
3 months later and I am so happy about how this is going. I only have 15 mins of treatment per week, though I could probably go 2 weeks without a treatment. The hairs that are growing back are MUCH finer and theres a lot less of them. There’s certain areas that the hair seems to have stopped growing but it’s far too early to say it’s gone completely. My skin still goes red after treatment but only for an hour at most. I never get the white spots anymore and I’m comfortable enough to go on dates the same evening as treatment. I also have not had a single ingrown since I started treatment.
For anyone who is considering this my advice is: Do it now!
I wish I had done this years ago.
