Is it ok to have electrolysis done while on accutane?
Although it is suggested that electrolysis be administered after the patient has stopped using accutane (waiting period is about 30 days), we have clients in situations where they need to have treatment while on the drug.
Accutane has been around for more than 2 decades and I have not seen any problems associated with its use while undergoing treatment however - should you decide to have electrolysis during your accutane use - make sure to remind the electrologist to:
*pre-treat and after-care treat with non-alcohol containing products
-
refrain from using galvanic or blend
-
use insulated probes
*check hair depths often to assure proper depth of insertion
And I would hope that the electrologist is using modern equipment which enables a skilled practitioner to dramatically minimize tissue trauma.
On your own, you need to make sure to drink sufficient water and use those moisturizers that your dermatologist suggests. And you know - sunblock is a must.
Since Accutane is usually only taken for about 4 - 5 months, maybe waiting is a good idea. What did your dermatologist say?
Sensation of pain will be increased during electrolysis while using Accutane. You should also get a good B vitamin complex, and perhaps extra B1, B3, and B7 with an assist from some pro-biotics. Biotin can only be made if your stomach flora is correct, and yet the use of anti-biotics wrecks your body’s ability to create this valuable nutrient, and the anti-biotics used in commerical meats puts anti-biotics into our food chain of which we are unaware. Of course, you should also make sure you are getting enough water, reducing the toxins and pollutants you put in your body, and excercising regularly. You may find the need for Accutane goes away.
When clients come in with skin care issues, we see that most people are dehydrated. You can actually be producing plenty of oil yet have dehydrated skin. The thing is, we don’t see this as an opportunity to sell products like most businesses do – in my opinion, the ethically responsible thing to do is to analyze the skin and make suggestions – the primary one being DRINK WATER.
Its amazing to our clients when they see so many of their problems end when they get sufficient water. You don’t even have to wait that long to see the results.
Now, what is enough water? Well, a general rule is: take your weight and divide that number in half and add the word, “ounces” to it.
Example: weight is 160, divided in half is 80. Drink 80 ounces of water. Simple.
