Hello all.
I have been receiving electrolysis on my chin since November 2021. So, 4 years.
I would say after the first two years I had a dramatic reduction in the amount of hairs on my face. I then moved on to other areas (primarily arms/underarms).
Now, I’m at a crossroads. I still have some stray, very coarse, terminal hairs on my chin, bilaterally. I would count maybe 10 total. These crop up every 3 weeks. Also, two weeks following treatment there are two areas that have small in-growns, little red bumps that hairs emerge from in due time. Another two posters kindly replied to a comment on another thread I made and said that I’m being under-treated. I’d like to believe this isn’t true but I recently switched practitioners to see if there was a difference. I have no problem spending money or time but I am exhausted at having to manage the facial hair still after four years. I just want this aspect of my treatment to be over.
I approached my original tech (Tech #1) about how long the chin area was taking. They were nonchalant and simply said that the area was tricky and hormonal, and so subject to longer treatment.
I don’t think Tech #1 was plucking - they were very quick but I had a dramatic reduction in the amount of hairs after two years, this has been persistent, I’ve never gone back to the amount I used to have. I went to a second tech (tech #2) and these are the differences I noticed:
- The length of time to treat the areas I want nearly doubled. I went from a 15 minute (tech #1) appointment to roughly ~25-30 mins (tech #2)
- The insertions are much more laboured over and slow. Tech #2 “pinches” or pushes the tissue around the area she treats sometimes to insert the probe. She then takes a bit to zap. My previous tech was insert beep, insert beep, insert beep, pretty quickly by comparison.
- With both, I did not feel any removal of the hair. I also felt Tech #1 zap, tug on a hair, then reinsert and zap again, then tug and remove. Presumably because she didn’t feel she properly treated the first time. Tech #2 doesn’t do this, but like I said, they labour over the treatment much slower.
Any and all advice is SO much appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your time.
