Ok guys, I read somewhere that Bare Minerals Make up can be used straight after Electrolysis…is this true? I say straight after, but what I mean is… about an hour after.
I’m really paranoid about leaving a treatment without make up.
Thanks
Maxine

We really like it if you give your skin a 24 hour rest, but if you simply won’t do that.
As long as you have no negative after effects, and you don’t notice any additional problems, yes, bare minerals might be ok. Just make sure that you clean the skin and use your tea tree oil overnight to speed healing. (I would say use it right after the treatment as well, but if you can’t go a few hours without make-up, you won’t want to go anywhere smelling like tea tree oil either. )
I have often wondered if there is something I could apply to cover the redness after treatment, and still have it look natural enough if I have to present male after treatment (which I have to right now.) Granted, the swelling will still probably draw attention.
Instantron and Sterex both carry a post-treatment makeup that is supposed to cover the redness and provide post-treatment relief to the skin at the same time. Anyone have experience with them?
DermaBlend is one of the names the product goes by. It is about as natural looking as those acne medicated creams that purport to blend into the skin and give the look of foundation.
I am a huge fan of the GOOD mineral foundations. I used to be adamant about my clients not using makeup for at least 12, preferably 24 hours after a treatment. But after my own experience with them, I now have no problem with my clients putting their makeup on in my restroom immediately after a treatment, IF it is a good mineral foundation. If the mineral foundation contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, they actually help my skin heal faster, as those are anti-inflammatory minerals.
I tried the Sterex years ago. (Maybe it has changed since.) It was their after treatment lotion with a dab of color. I didn’t think it covered the redness at all, as it seemed to just absorb into the skin and leave a small deposit of color in the pores.
But I love love love the minerals.
I used Dermablend for years for beard cover (I assume you mean the waxy, thick makeup designed to cover birthmarks and such.) It is so waxy it doesn’t blend well or look natural on large areas.
If one wants to intentionally cause your skin to break out, give yourself a very very close shave and then cover that irritated skin with Dermablend for 12 hours
The electrolysis product of the same name is a liquid medicated post treatment product with minerals and such. It is safe to use, but just doesn’t blend in like a foundation in my opinion. I would rather a person get the skin healed as quickly as possible instead of using this product as a cover up.
Yes, there are a few different products using the name “DermaBlend”
Thanks for the input guys & gals! I have another question, a day or two after treatment is it ok to put Fougera’s Vitamin A & Vitamin D ointment on the treated area? I was advised to use this to help heal after having a tattoo…just wondered if it would have the same effect for an electrolysis treated area.

Hey!
As far as make up just after the session is concerned, I usually do it and never had problems with that. Just make sure that you remove all the makeup before going to bed, a good wash, and put tea tree oil or something for healing. Of course, when you can avoid the make up, it’s even better
Concerning the vitamin A, I’m also using a local acid treatment, and it is okay as well (I put Neostrata AHA 15, which has a lot of concentration of glycolic acid, and it never gave me supplementary irritation on the face - even after electrolysis.
Hope it will help
The A&D ointment is ok, but remember, what you really need to help the skin heal after electrolysis is related to burn injury. Anything related to healing of burns is the best way to go. Tatto related healing is more about protecting the skin from infections.
