Best Hair Removal Method?

Hi,

I am fair haired but have a lot of hair on my face, (and other areas but I wax that). It is golden in colour but on the sides of my face it is about 1cm - 1 inch in length and there is a lot of it. I have waxed it once before, but that caused reddening and ingrown hairs, lumps etc.

Also, when the hair grows back, it can be spiky where the hairs have broken. I also dont want to wax as I have found that since waxing my arms, the hairs grow back sticking out in all directions and dont lay flat! Plus they have got thicker and more of them…

I pluck my chin at the moment, as they have come back thicker and slightly darker so I want to stop this. I am plucking every day as my hair grows fast.

Can anyone suggest the best hair removal method? I would love to try electrolosis but I understand this is only for dark hair?

Its embarrassing and people do notice it! :o(

Any one can help?

Thanks

India

Electrolysis is your only permanent solution and it works for ALL COLORS OF HAIRS, ON ALL SKIN COLORS, ON ALL HAIR STRUCTURES. This is a fact, not an opinion.

That’s the easy part to explain, india. The hard part is finding a modern electrolgist, with skill, who can do this within 9-18 months with very little skin reaction along the way. Computerized professional epilators coupled with surgical magnification and lighting run very, very close, if not even, to the skill factor.

Finding a qualified professional is not always possible on certain parts of the globe. You didn’t list in your profile the general area where you live?

thanks Dee!

i live in west london, so if anyone knows of anywhere i could find one that would be great!

:o)

You may want to private meassage our dear Benji Boy here on hairtell. He very smart and knows what’s happening in London. Use the search feature as well on hairtell, top right hand corner.

Hunt well, find the best and you be okay in the end.

Dear India,

I myself am from London (north-west to be precise) and like you, I am in search of an experienced electrologist. So far I have come across two in the London area.

Both I believe are professional electrologists who used the more modern computerized equipment (Apilus machines) and they both deal with men, women and transgender clients.

If you want, send me a PM and I will message you back their links. Good luck!

hi india
i am of indian background. i have medium complexion(more darkish skin tone than light) and i have a lot of hair over my face. its a mixture of coarse hair and fine hair.

im frm s.e london in croydon, and have been having electrolysis for the past 5 months. although in the last month i have not been due to alot of travelling with my work up&down the UK.
i started of using a lady called Geri in walthamstow, but then switched over to Sara Thomas whos based in Harrow, due to a gay freind going to her for face work, so we started going together.

Sara has worked on my face solid for 3 months and is superb. i have had great results. she started of working frm the chin area, and then moves out towards the cheek, then finishes on the sideburn area…
shes not only a delightful lady, but is really skilled, and uses up to the date modern technology. i have minimal discomfort with her. though i do get very red for about a day as a i have very very sensitive skin, but this settles down by me using witch hazel and a combo of aloe vera gel…

so far my hair has gone alot finer, and around the chin area the hair has dissapeared in alot of places. the cheeks are coming along really well also, and have had about a 50% reduction there, along with my sideburn area.

i would advise using Sara if your from London, she charges £40 for a consultation and is a busy woman. If you go ahead you should commit yourself and expect to go every 2 weeks for treatment. be patient and the results are worth it. she told me it would take me about 6-12 months to get permanent hair loss on my face. i was half way there, but need to continue asap.
i have kept alot of pictures, and if i can hide my eyes from the pics, i will post them up. im looking to start treatment again soon, as i know im hindering the results by not keeping it up.

good luck, as the hardest part of the search is finding a modern electrolysist who is good at what they do. stick to it and it be well worth it.

Shelly the Aplius machines are the best to have work done on, stick to a electrolysist who uses these modern machines and is registered and your already half way there
i ended up wit Sara Thomas because she does alot of transgender clients, and my gay freind wanted all his facial hair removed. he finds it very painful but has had excellent results so far. and shes good at dealing with all his ingrown hairs to…

Dear Preety,

thank you for your comments, im so glad you have posted! yes one of the ladies I have recommended is Sara Thomas from Harrow, I actually found her through a recommendation off this site

Im going to see her for a consultation in 2 weeks time, so will update everyone on my progress. I have fine hairs all over my fairs, ranging from the neck, chin, cheeks, cheekbones, sides… they are all fair but half are dark and half are blonde/vellus.

Im hoping becuase they are finer that they will be easier/quicker to treat bu im not sure if thats the case with electrolysis.

Preety have you had electrolysis done before? if so where and what method did they use?

Once again thanks for your response, its very encourgaing and helpful

best of luck with your treatments!

By the way, just a little background for you, I don’t know if any of you share the same experience as me but…

I am a 21 year old female. Before I never had any facial hair (except for hair on upper lip and below the lip). In fact I had perfect skin too.

However, after the age of 19, I started to get break outs (which I never suffered from before) and I also developed facial hair and hair on my chest/abdomen. To tackle facial hair I used bleach, but I hate having to do this constantly and to me I can still see and feel the hair :frowning:

Im not too sure, but i guessing because of my age and the circumstances this could be hormonal, seeing as both thins happened after a certain age??? I would post pics of before/after but im not sure how…

shelly, Jennifer Clifton is supposed to be really good to. i know someone who actually sees her. but the problem is she is based in Nottingham, but i was told she also does clinics in london somewhere, and may also be moving down here permantley. you could look into her, she is rated as one of the best in the UK, and is very specialised in womens issues also.
i believe im correct in saying finer hairs are easier to treat with electrolysis, and wont require as many treatments as coarser hair would. jsut make sure prior to any treatments you have, you dont pluck, wax. this is due to the way the hair can grow after.

when i started elctro, my plan was just to have my chin, cheeks done. i was going to leave my sideburns as my long hair on my head covers the side of my face. but into it we just decided to go for the whole lot. its great when you get full clearance and see your face hair free, you start to get so much positve about life etc. but when it starts coming back, just keep going in for treatments to clear it up, and before you know it your half way there and done, as time passes so fast.

one thing i like i dont have the peach fuzz look, which i hate when u bleach yr face. since elctro i dnt bother bleaching anymore, i jsut wait until treatments to get rid of everything.

was there any reason after 19 you developed facial hair, perhaps going on the pill. for some of us its just a hormonal issue and cant be helped.

shelly to answer yr other question, she uses microflash or something like that. it deals with more hair at a time. i had elctro once ages ago frm a local beauty shop, it hurt like hell and the results, well there was none.

also frm having electro recently ive also noticed my skin has cleared up alot more, i used to have the occassional spots here & there. but i dont seem to have that anymore. my skin does look brighter, howwever sometimes i do get scabs form after elctro, but they do clear up quick. i suppose you cant get something for nothing

Preety thank you so much for your kind and positive response, it really gives me a sense of hope!

Well to be honest im not too sure why I developed more hair/excess hair. I mean being of asian descent I was slightly hairer than most girls but nothing that I was ashamed of. However in the past couple of years the hair just seems like there’s more to me :frowning:

It could be hormones I guess but I need to get tested first. I’ve never been on the pill before so I dont think its that. The only form of medication I’ve been on in the past is anti-depressants, but I was on them for around 3 years without any problems…

Yes I’ve also heard of Jennifer Clifton, I tried calling her number on the website, but havnt been able to get through. I was also hoping to see her for a consultation, but im not sure how far away she is from me.

Anyway I’ll see how things progress. I just hate having this peach fuzz all over my face, its really makes my skin look worse and also more bumpy :frowning:

Anyway when I have a chance i’ll try and post pics so you can see what I mean (i.e. before and then after the hair developed).

Best wishes

Shell

well my advice to you guys Shelly and India, have as many consultations done as possible, and have some work done from each sara and jennifer, and see who you are most comfortable with, and who could give you the best results and take it from there.

keep us all updated on here, as it helps to talk to people about experiences or when u just wanna let of some steam. im lucky i go with a freind so we talk to each other about it. but forums like these are very helpful indeed. so yr never alone.

Preety.

Thanks for everyones replies!

I will try both of the ladies mentioned, they are a bit far as I am in West london, but these are the only 2 mentioned on this site.

My hair is mainly fine, so I’m guessing by your replies that this should be easier to treat? there is just so much of it, so what type of machine should I make sure they have?

Thanks!

India

where abouts in west london area are you from?

finer hair yes is easier to treat than coarser hair. just make sure they have the computerised equipment. Aplius machines are the best. Sara Thomas uses both the old and new technologies, however the use of the newer machine is slightly more costly, but they are easier on the skin as they provide more comfort.

Preety

Hey girls is there any chance you could post contact information for Sara and Jennifer i am also interested in seeing them.

Do they both work from clinics? i know i shouldnt be but im embarrassed going to a clinic and find it more comfortable going to someones home for things like this. I was seeing Geri from Walthamstow but shes on maternity leave right now.

You know, the funny thing is that hair removal customers are really at odds with themselves on this point. On the one hand, they want their practitioner to have a full on medical set up, but they don’t want their actual treatment to be done at any place where anyone would possibly guess what they are doing, or see them going in or out.

It seems that we practitioners would do best to have an office in a medical building for first appointments, and then give clients who decide to do a treatment program a second “secret address” where the actual treatments would take place in a residential setting.

Thanks for all your replies ladies, Preety you have been most helpful

India good luck with your treatment, I hope you are able to find a practioner that suits you

Shelly

guys if you go to http://www.electrolysis.co.uk/ you can do a search for all registered electrolysists near where you live in the uk. that way you can test them out and find someone who lives near you. this makes things easier as you have to commit for at least 1year, so helps to go to someone local…
