Blend methodology question

I’m a male getting some body hairs removed with blend. I’m happy with the results so far but the progress seems slow. My electrologist epilates each hair immediately after it is treated. I thought that a speedier and better way was to treat the hairs serially and then epilate en mass later after the lye has had a chance to do the maximum work. What, ultimately, is the best technique? By the way, it’s Apilus Platinum pico blend. Thanks.

PicoBlend is cool. If she can keep track of the hairs she treated, then doing a “hair neighborhood” as I describe it, works great. Personally, I punch body hair with PicoFlash - size or depth doesn’t matter. I may use Synchro? I may use both. These are decisions each individual electrologist needs to make the call on. Ask her if she can give a ten minute sampling of each modality. Then you tell her which one suits your sensitivities better. They all work.

Good suggestion. But what is a "hair neighborhood’? Am I concluding from your reply that the amount of time the hair remains in the follicle after zapping but before epilation doesn’t matter for regrowth purposes?

It depends on the area…the density of the hair…the angles of the hair. If the hairs are scattered, then treat and extract might be easier for your electrologist.

There is also a two-handed method, where the electrologist is inserting and treating with the dominant hand and removing the hair with the non-dominant hand. It’s a very efficient technique. The biggest obstacle is if the hair is long - then the forceps/tweezers might grasp untreated hairs that are in the way.

Your comment about the lye makes me wonder…does the immediate removal of a hair result in removing some lye so that there is less chemical action going on in the follicle? Curious what the other electrologists have to say about that.

Are you related to Ann Greathouse, our local realtor?

I don’t see her hands, and the hairs are somewhat scattered.

We (or her husband) would have the same ancestor, as a father and his two sons got here a long time ago. (German name made English.) I always thought that would make a great name for a realty company!!!

This is what makes sense to me: When the hair can easily slide from the follicle, it should be removed. That signals that sufficient energy has been produced to effect the desired amount of tissue destruction.

Thanks. Sometimes (last week) the hair pulls out easily and other sessions (this week) the hairs all come out with a tug. My electroligist tells me that it depends on my moisture level, and that I should tank up in the days before a session.

Yes, that is true. Sometimes the moisture in the hair follicle is not there and can make the task of removing hair difficult. Some hairs that are ready to shed have little moisture as well.

Most Americans live in a constant state of dehydration. I have an electronic scale that tests hydration and I can tell you that most of my clients score in the 40’s when a good score is between 60 and 70 on the scale. I have even had women who scored 29! I tell them that if I were a doctor, I would be inserting an IV drip in their arm STAT!

Basically, most people need to reduce their surgary soft drink intake, and increase their water intake. The treatments will be more comfortable, and the practitioner may even be able to turn the energy down lower if you get well hydrated, and stay that way. Do be sure that as you are increasing your water intake that you drink water that is chlorine and fluoride free and make sure you get extra electrolytes. (No, don’t drink gatorade, eat bananas, apples and other fruits)

Aha!So that’s it. Although I NEVER drink pop or Gatoraide, I did have bananas over the weekend prior to my Monday appointment. Thanks for the tip.
