Yesterday i called Kimberly over at Boston Electrolysis to check what theyre charging per hour. She said its 80.00 for one hour, and 40.00 for half, duh
The place i m going for electrolysis currently does not have blend, at least they havent mention that. I was wondering whats the difference between blend and galvanic? Would blend be faster method, and would it make more sense to pay more per hour for better results?
I just feel weird after 5 hours done and close to 400 bucks spent. Theres bunch of hairs left on my upper lip, and at this point it seems like its going to cost thousand instead of hundreds, and that much i dont have. Every time i ask about half hour treatments she says "not yet". I dont know how long i can keep this up and i think i`d rather pay more per hour for better results.
Sanny,
Your comments are Blend vs Others, but then you only compare Blend against Galvanic. Galvanic is the slowest of all the modalities. It works by Chemical Decomposition. Blend speeds up galvanic action by warming the lye being produced so that it can get into small spaces better.
Other modalities of Electrolysis are thermolysis and its different variations. Slow thermolysis takes less time than blend but Flash Thermolysis takes it a bit further and becomes very quick. Hundreths and Thousandths of a second. Slow thermolysis works by coagulating the blood vessels surrounding the hair papilla, and requires temperatures to reach 126 deg F. Flash however becomes super quick, but for very short durations the temperature reaches at least 212 deg F and it works by desication of moisture from the cells that cause germinative hair growth. Flash requires greater skill in the placement of the probes but hair can be removed so much quicker and with less pain. I usually offer all three modalities to my clients, and the vast majority choose Flash. I hope this helps.
if you have a lot of hair, themolysis or flash thermolysis is faster than blend. you should look for someone who uses that. galvanic is even slower than blend. run a search here for “boston” and see what past discussions come up.
So basically, blend and flash are the same? My electrologist refers to their methid as “Modern galvanic”. Its the one where you hold stick wrapped in a dump towel paper. If flash (or blend) is so much faster, than i guess i would rather pay more for faster results. Place where i go to now, charges 45 dollars for half an hour, so even when i finally switch to 30min treatments , i will be paying more than over at Kimberlys where i can get blend.
Lagirl, we posted at the same time
We spoke few times on here about boston electrolysis. Some say Kimberlys little paranoid, but no one actually knows how her work is. She offers blend though. Between three choices in whole city of Phoenix, i dont think anyone offers flash. Bummer for me.
Kimberly offers microflash because she has a computerized epilator and has written an article on computerization and electrolysis. Microflash works very well, by the way.
Go check her out. Tell her your story just like you told it here so she understands your frustration completely. If she offers expert care, I think people on hairtell should know as a matter of courtesy, so they can resolve their unwanted hair issues in the Phoenix area.
I believe you are seeing the other electrologist at the place of business that was mentioned here as a place to explore? Is there anyway that you could talk to the owner, Maria, and get a treatment from her to compare?
I just thought i might pay for half hour treatment at Kimberlys place and see how microflash does it for me. I guess my main concern here is same as for the most of us. Its time multiplied with money. I have all the time in the world but i dont have too much money. I am not allowed to do half an hour treatments, and that concerns me. My electrologist is good, shes skilled. or at least i think she is because i have never have any skin or any other reaction to the treatment. Its just that they only offer galvanic, so even if Maria was the one doing it, itd be the same.
I dont know what to do. I am scared that at one point, if this continues slow as it is, we will run out of money and i will not be able to afford to continue. Kimberlys place is around 20 miles away from were i live. Is micro much faster than galvanic? Is it worth it?
Sanny,
MicroFlash vs Galvanic is like comparing a race car to a bicycle. Galvanic does something for an operator, it makes them rich because of all the hours required to get clearance.
Some galvanic operators use multiple needle to try an up their hair removal rate, but still Microflash clears so much faster.
The Best Multi-Probe/Needle Galvanic operator that I know told me that 100 hairs per hour would be fast with Galvanic.
This is why I always scratch my head when people TRY to say that Thermolysis is bad because it is claimed to have a lower “Kill Rate.” Even if we assume a 50% kill rate (and really a good practitioner would never have such a low kill rate) Thermolysis would still be more than twice as fast as Galvanic based on number of hairs actually killed once and for all in each treatment.
I will make a note that the practitioner you saw first uses only galvanic. Correct me if I’m wrong, sanny.
Galvanic will kill hair, but it is too slow and explains why you had no clearance in 5 hours on an upper lip. We can’t let our clients run out of money, so, that’s another reason why updated equipment and microflash thermolysis can satisfy the most challenging client cases without leaving them weary and bankrupt in the end. Lots of balancing to do here in order to get people to a successful outcome.
You are absolutely right, Dee. Since they operate for a very long time (place where i have elctrolysis done ), i am pretty surprised and little disappointed that they dont offer other, faster methods. I believe that vast majority of people dealing with this problem are not rich, and most of us budget for this. This means great deal to me, and probably means a lot more to anyone else, and the sole thought of running out of money now, when i saw myself in a mirror without so much hair, is scaring me to death. I called Kimberly today, and one thing that i like about her right away is the fact that she will be, in fact, the one doing the treatment, and not someone who has only that much experience. I will definitely post about it, but i think my next appointment wont be till next week.
Thats where i am going. Only, so far, i havent even met Maria. In fact, it doesnt matter whos doing my treatment. They only offer galvanic, and i am really not happy with results after 5 hours done. Especially after i`ve heard from everyone here on the forum. If i am only supposed to have 30 minutes of treatment on upper lip area, then they failed to let me know about it. I guess i will just compare the two.
Thanks sanny. Let’s see where this goes for you. As well as galvanic electrolysis works, you are a case in point where a paying client needs the speed of thermolysis to get the hair cleared off fast. Thermolysis kills hair, too. Microflash thermolysis included. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
Thanks for all your questions and comments about your experience so far. We hope to hear some good news soon.
I just wanted to check back with you and ask is there any doubts about thermolysis. In your previous post you say that "Thermolysis kills hair, too. ", so i felt little bugged by it, and i am starting to worry that maybe its faster but not effective as galvanic, which would mean spending money less wisely. If galvanic is slower but has a definite kill rate, id rather be slow and hair free, i think.
