cataphoresis

Does anyone know anything about cataphoresis? My electrologist brought it up today and said she is considering buying the equipment that is used for it, and i am searching the web for more info.

=) thanks

Great question to which there are not many online references. My electro does this following every treatment and it just takes a minute generally to cover the treated skin. It is claimed to have a significant affect on healing - I have wondered whether to have only half the area so treated in order to make a comparison, but have not yet done that. However, she is a strong believer in the benefit.

“Cataphoresis offers many benefits. It can reduce the warm sensation, and redness which can be caused by electrolysis. Also, the electrical current stimulates the sebaceous gland which will secrete basic sebum. The hair follicle then becomes a potential area for the effect of the production of bacteria proliferation. The best reason to use cataphoresis after electrolysis is to produce vasoconstriction of the follicular ostiums and restore the pH balance of the skin, in order to prevent any infection.”

So far i have not had any infection. I have had some ingrowns that look so infected but then when she gets them they clear up! IDK tho, she says she hears great things about it and had it done years ago with some classes she took and she said it FELT GOOD!
