Hello everyone,
I’m a white male that is interested in reducing the density and thickness of the hair on the bottom of my chin area (bottom part of the goatee area). My hair grows in which and is black
I still would like the hair to grow, just mush less so that when I shave I don’t have a 5 o’clock shadow.
a few questions:
- Does it matter if I’m tan when doing electrolysis (laser it is detrimental to be tan)?
- What are the side effects/drawbacks to using electrolysis in the area over laser?
3.will the hair grow back evenly after a session?
- Will it be noticeable right after a session that I had electrolysis done (work / friends seeing swelling, etc)
- How many sessions on average are needed?
- Have any males on here had experience doing such thing? Please be in touch
- Skin color doesn’t matter for electrolysis.
- About the same, temporary redness and swelling that resolves in an hour. Electrolysis takes longer to treat an area than does laser. But electrolysis is selective in treating individual hairs, whereas laser is not at all selective.
- If the hairs removed by electrolysis are spread throughout the area, it will grow back evenly.
- Immediately after treatment, it will probably be noticeable. After an hour, not so much.
- It requires from 12 to 18 months to fully treat the male beard areas effectively. This is because of the overlapping hair growth cycles. Depending on your current hair density, you would need at least monthly sessions over that time.
- I’ve had my lips and chin cleared, and it’s taken about 18 months for everything to be free of hair.
What electrologists and readers of this board appreciate is a clear picture of your current condition. Everyone is unique, and hair density varies widely, even in the same general areas. A photo of your treatment area would greatly help anyone in estimating the work required.
