Electrolysis questions

Hi everyone,

I am a Caucasian male in the late-20s who would like to reduce the amount/density of hair on my beard/neck, legs, and forearms, while still keeping some hair (still staying masculine, just not as hairy).

I do not know much about electrolysis and have a few questions

 1. How many treatments will I need to have on each body part to have a noticeable difference in the amount/density of hair growth?
 2. Are there different types of electrolysis? If so, is there one type that is better for a particular body part?
 3. Does electrolysis produce any type of scarring or negative side effects?
 4. On average, how much should each body part cost?
 5. Is laser a better option than electrolysis for my goals?

Without photographs, it is impossible to answer your qustions. Each persons’ hair growth is individual and unique, and unlike laser we treat each hair individually, and you pay according to the length of time treatment takes, not according to the body area treated.

You may continue to grow hair into your late thirties, so be ready . This should not stop you from getting hair removed though.

Please go to the sister site of hairtell and read up on electrolysis. www.hairfacts.com

 1. How many treatments will I need to have on each body part to have a noticeable difference in the amount/density of hair growth? [color:#6633FF]Only your electrologist can tell you that if she or he cares to take a guess. There are so many variables and hurdles to overcome and much depends on you showing up and laying on the table for longer appointments that are close together in the first several months. Predictions are guesses that may hit the mark or miss the mark.
 2. Are there different types of electrolysis? If so, is there one type that is better for a particular body part? [color:#6633FF]Yes, there are different electrolysis modalities and they all work. I prefer using the high tech types of thermolysis offered on my epilator of choice to clear and maintain areas, especially if one has a lot of hair.
 3. Does electrolysis produce any type of scarring or negative side effects [color:#6633FF] No. It has to be performed with expertise and that is why we plead with posters to get as many consults as possible. You may have to travel as well to find an electrologist that has nailed doing the electrolysis procedure with fine skill and efficacy in a timely fashion.
 4. On average, how much should each body part cost? [color:#3366FF]This is not laser. We treat individual follicles and if you can count all the follicles you have that produce hair, then we can give you an estimate.
 5. Is laser a better option than electrolysis for my goals? [color:#6633FF]If you have coarse (not course), dense, dark hair on the palest skin possible and it is not an area that is quirky about induced hair stimulation, then go for laser. Electrolysis can treat any size or color of hair on any color of skin.
