Okay, thanks Leo.
session 21 on face of one hour. my therapist did all thermolysis as that is what I asked for. I wanted her to get as many hairs as possible in the hour as she goes on holiday and I wont be going back for nearly four weeks. Anyway I have clearence so will see how I go in four weeks. Its been nearly four weeks since my last session on the face and I was very ready for my treatment. Today she did sides of face, sides of upper lip (corners), neck and chin. I am not sore but have tiny bumps on face - the usual reaction to thermolysis for me. When she returns in in four weeks I am booked in for 1 hour on face as well as belly/chest area. Keep you posted.
In your signature, you may want to state the actual name of the laser, which is Apogee. Cynosure is the manufacturer name. Alexandrite is the type of laser.
I have been having electrolysis now for 8 months of 21 hours in and going every three weeks now. I dont have any course hairs anymore - but how much longer will I have to expect going for treatment before I see the results of barely having to go for touch ups. I am talking about my facial treatments. I would say I always get full clearence when I go now but always need an hours treatment! The hairs growing now are so much more finer but can still seem quite long. And I would say the most subborn area of growth seems to be bottom of face to jawline. Any comments most appreciated. thanks
Leo, did you treat the blonde hairs too or only dark ones? It sounds like you’re doing really well. I have a lot of long blonde hairs around my jawline. Maybe after the 9 month mark you will have treated all the hair cycles once and won’t have many hairs coming back? Have you noticed any reduction in the amount of hair yet?
You are progressing. Facial areas can take anywhere between 9-18 months to “complete”. No one here can be any more specific than that because we are not personally involved with your case and even if we were, you would hear the same general answer of 9-18 months. Some of the more challenging cases can take up to 24 months. Your focus was on the darker, coarser hairs and now that they are gone, your eye is drawn to the next level of long, blond hairs that you were not focusing on, initially. Be patient for a bit longer. This an be hard, but you will see that is was worth the wait.

Candela the hairs on my face have seen very much improvement - no course hairs anymore just finer hairs. The hairs on my face have always been a darker shade(never blonde)a colour which probably was same as my skin tone (my skin is medium shade not as dark as asian skin), so in answer to both you and dee yes I have seen improvement but hopefully the next 4 months will be even better. thanks for your replies. night

Thank you.
Hi all just had session 22 on face and neck for an hour and its been a month since last treatment. Therapist did Thermolysis, face looks pretty clear but I noticed she missed one obvious hair but going back on Wednesday so she can get it then! She did sides of face, chin, neck and a very few on upper lip. I am going again on wednesday for belly area and I am booked in again in three weeks for my face.
thanks
Where in the UK are you then?
The north and I have treatment in Rotherham
Update, went yesterday and we did half an hour on belly. I think its my third or fourth session. The last session I had I got full clearence but not this time - my therapist just removed enough to make the area look natural, as wouldnt look natural if I had a bald patch!
Hi Leo,
I read that you’ve had laser hair removal treatments on your face and that has increased the number of hairs there. I also have this problem - I have fine but dark brown hairs on my face (sides of face, chin & neck - like yours) that became more abundant post laser treatments. Over ten years I have tried three different lasers - a ruby, a yag and LHE (in that order). The LHE was the only (mildly) successful method I used.
Anyway, my question is: did you consider changing to a really powerful laser like the GentleLase before going down the electrolysis route? And if not, why? I’m unable to decide which option is best for me - GentleLase or electrolysis - and your advice, or anyone else’s advice, is much appreciated
Thanks
That’s wonderful to hear in terms of cost. Do you know why she chose to do a full clearance last time but not this time? Was last time your first full clearance?
Hi Lilian
Everytime laser went to my face the hair seemed to get worse, even after shedding. So after some advice from various people on HairTell I decided to stop with the laser and find myself a good electrolysist. I havent looked back since! My advice is give up on the laser and be prepared for some regular appointments of electrolysis and you should end up feeling much happier with yourself as I do. I feel confident again and from going for treatment in the beginning every week, then every 10 days or so, then every two weeks, now I am going every 3 weeks but I can manage every month now if I really wanted to. Good Luck with what ever you decide.
Hi Candela I chose full clearence before as I wanted to make sure all hairs had been picked at! but whilst getting to full clearence I did say to my therapist that my goal on the belly area was for it to look more natural with the rest of dowdy hair on my belly and not to end up with a bald patch. So this time she removed just what was needed and she asked me about 3 times to check if I was happy before stopping with the treatment. Keep you all posted
Sesson 23 on face and neck yesterday. One hour. she did sides of face, upper and lower lip, chin and a few from under neck. Still a few left under the neck which she will get next week when I go back. We did thermolysis but this time left lots of bumps on my skin. It did hurt a bit more than usual. She must have changed settings and not realised. its been 24 hours and I still have bumpy skin, not sore just bumpy and will prob scab in next couple of days.
Use some tree tea oil at bedtime with aloe vera gel over top that. Use aloe vera gel alone during the day. Be sure to give your electrologist feedback. Maybe she can minimize the side effects with some adjustment in the intensity and timing. Maybe she will re-evaluate her probe size and choice (insulated? gold? over stainless steel may be helpful).
