eyelashes...!

Hello,

in the last couple of months, I’ve noticed growth of additional eyelashes on my upper eye lid. They grow right on top of the existing row of eyelashes…to me, this is a bit scary. I have looked at photos of eyes on flickr to see whether others have it and noticed that some people obviously have “messy” eyelashes and some have a very straight line of eyelashes like I did until recently.

To the Electrologists on this board…have you had customers with this problem and do you see a way to treat this ? Would it be safe to pluck the unwanted lashes ? Or would this just induce further growth ?

Thanks !

You can pluck them. Depends on how many you have that bother you. You can also get them removed permanently. However, lots of eyelashes is a good thing, in my opinion. You’ll want them back when you’re getting older and have less and less

If you tweeze your eyelashes, you risk ingrowns or even infection. Be careful. The birth of electrolysis started when an St.Louis opthamologist back in the middle 1860’s successfully removed ingrown eyelashes with a sewing needle and and wet cell battery.

A local physician here in my hometown treats ingrown eyelashes with electrolysis, but I’m not sure he would be jumping to remove someone who had bountiful eyelashes that caused no ill-effects. I’m thinking you could make an appointment with some opthamologists in your locale and see if they would treat a few lashes that bother you. Tweezing will not cause induced growth in this area. So, do you know how many women would kill to have extra eyelashes?

Hi lagirl and dfahey,

thanks for your replies ! I am aware of the fact that a lot of women wished they had more eyelashes. I think now there is even a new drug out there that promotes growth of eyelashes.

I’ve always had very long and dense eyelashes, however, now I have some eyelashes growing above the proper “line” of eyelashes which looks a bit awkward and worries me since it brings up a to me well known question, namely whether the growth of new hair will finally stop.
