Hello all Hairtell folks!
I sent out a post before about seeking hair removal.
Now, I’m in North Carolina and ready for electrolysis.
This post is specific for North Carolina, but I would also appreciate any advice regarding choosing someone.
I’ve checked out the North Carolina Board of Electrolysists
but there are still several to choose from. I’m hoping one/some of you can offer some advice on how to find others who have used these people. Or ways to ensure they are safe/experienced/the best choice.
I want to make sure the condition on my chin/upper lip doesn’t get worse. Scarring, etc.
I am very excited about the permanent removal of this hair…but am also worried about knowing nothing about the practictioners.
Also, I’m willing to do the research/calls to make this happen…just need some tips on how to begin.
If you had filled out your profile with an actual geographic area/city in North Carolina, people could give you input based on who they have seen in that part of the state. North Carolina is not Rhode Island, where anyone in the state is in easy driving distance.
There are lots of posts on how to judge good electrolysis. First, call around and ask what type of electrolysis they offer and what machine they use and how much experience they have. Then schedule consultations with sample treatments. The goal is for you not to feel like the hair is being plucked (i.e. it should slide out without much resistance after being zapped) and for your skin to look good and heal easily afterwards.
Thanks LA girl. I am treating first, my upper lip and chin area. After that (depending upon what I can afford), I would like to treat a small section of my lower stomach. Areas I have always felt self-conscious/struggled with.
How long does it take to heal/grow back. I’d like to do a first session before I go on a trip, but at the same time–I don’t want to look badly for a major event in my life…my thesis defense!
Oh, you would be surprised at how some people come here asking for help finding someone to treat them, but don’t want to give enough information to pinpoint who actually would be close enough for them to go see that day.
It is a strange thing about this. Everyone seems to think that just the information “The girl in Davenport Iowa with upper lip hair” would be enough to find her and go stand out in front of her house saying, “We saw your post on HairTell!”
Those types would give North-West Texas as a location. Meanwhile, the rest of us are saying, "Um, yeah, that could be anywhere in an area the size of Iowa.
And some people wonder why they don’t get more help here.
It should look like nothing happened within 1-7 days depending on your skin, the skill of the electrologist, etc. It should take a few more weeks for the hair in the next phase to come in.
Also, buy witch hazel and apply several times a day. Aftercare is important.
Ok. I’m just new to posting here, and didn’t realize there was more to my profile. Also, I just moved to the area a week ago. Hope it helps, and I get some good recs. In the meantime, I will do some research on my own.
Thelma White in Durham. Her business is ABC’s of Skincare.
Dana Combopiano. Her business name is Corlase or Corelase.
A couple of these ladies do laser, but it is my understanding that they are not pushy about laser. Tell them you are seeking electrolysis services. Whether they do blend or thermolysis, you will still get permanent hair removal.
