Hi -
I had my first consultation today for removal of hair on the upper lip and chin. As mentioned in my previous post, the hair is mostly fine, but I do have some darker hairs and a few coarse ones.
I would appreciate feedback on my consult.
The practitioner I met with today has over 20 years experience and is licensed and certified. Her office was very clean and she answered all my questions. She uses the Apilus Platinum with the Pico Flash setting and disposal needles (or whatever they are called). She also has a large magnification tool.
Overall, I thought the consultation was very positive. I felt comfortable with her and her demeanor. She basically sounded alot like people on this board. She explained about growth cycles and wouldn’t give a time frame for complete removal. She said it would depend on my particular growth cycles and how much hair she couldn’t currently see, but she did indicate that she doesn’t think permanent removal will be a problem. She said my skin might show mild redness after the treatment, but nothing else was likely. She also said I would not have stubble or worsening of the hair.
She removed a few hairs so I could see what it feels like. She was nice enough to pick my most noticeable ones too. There was a slight heating sensation, but no pain. She did have tweezers in her hand which worries me a bit, but I never felt any plucking. One of the areas she treated has a small bump, like a bug bite, but it has been less than an hour.
Her fee is $35 for 15 minutes (which is acceptable to me). She said she would schedule a half hour appt and clear my chin and upper lip. She mentioned that she might not even need the half hour. She then said we could see after that what an appropriate schedule might be, based on my regrowth.
Does this all sound reasonable? Can she really clear most of this hair in .5 hour? Should I be concerned about the tweezers at all? From reading this board, I know tweezing is bad. Honestly, I have other consultations scheduled, but I really like this lady. She offered references and there were other people in her office. Her office location is convenient. I really want to get started.
I realize I am probably being overly cautious, but I would appreciate any reassurance or feedback.
