I am going to be trying electrolysis for the first time… just a little bit nervous. The lady doing it for me uses Blend. I think I read somewhere that Blend was better for maintenance, so I’m not entirely sure this is the right option.
Can someone please advise what sort of after-care routine/ products are recommended? The lady was a bit vague and was quite negative, saying that the electrolysis may have poor results because I have PCOS. Not sure whether she was trying not to get my hopes up or she’s just not very good. I don’t have much choice because she is apparently the only practitioner here! I’m going to try her anyway and see how it goes.
She also warned me of the possibility of brown discolourations, as I have previously had laser on the same areas (navel, chest bone and areola ). Has anyone else experienced this?
I use blend on cleints and it has given amazing results. Not my favorite modality to clear and area but it has worked well on some people.
You should get instructions after the treatment. I give out post treatment cards so the client does not have to remember everything I tell them.
Keep the area clean and dry.
Try to keep your hands off the area.
Clean with a mild soap and water.
Use an antibiotic cream if necessary.
Do not use any abrasive scrubbing cleansers.
I’ve tried blend, I liked it just fine. Not painful. A much better choice for these areas than laser. Hopefully you electrologist is a talented and thorough one. Do let us know how the first treatment goes!
Should I assume that you have read enough of the site to have seen the advise to fine a 100% pure Aloe Vera (Gel or Juice) and apply that post treatment during the day for at least 3 days, and Tea Tree Oil and apply that in small amounts for the overnight time for the same 3 day minimum?
Short term pigmentation is common, though not certain. It is more likely on body work, though.
The session went well although it took a while and was much more painful than I thought it would be. I have tiny red spots on my navel but I read that’s normal and expected. My therapist mentioned this was because the hair were coarser and deeper rooted there, and she had used a higher setting of 10. The aureole area is fine with no reaction whatsoever, for which she had used a lower setting at 7, but she had to double-hit some hair twice. I noticed some hair there that hasn’t been properly zapped… its stuck in my skin and looks like shaved hair that’s just started to grow back.
I’m veeryyy disappointed however that she could not do the chest bone, she said the hair was too fine and the hair follicle too tiny for her to hit it exactly. I’m a bit upset because I was under the impression that electrolysis could kill any hair? The hair in that area is quite visible so I’m not too pleased.
Are the settings she used good enough? And can she really not kill the finer hair on the chestbone area? I’m wondering if I should continue with laser on the chestbone again.
The problem with your chest bone hairs is not that they are too fine for electrolysis, but rather, they are too tiny for her to SEE! She needs [size:17pt]quality[/size] magnification. Do you have more consults scheduled with other practitioners in your locale??? Very important.
Laser is not an option. Laser cannot see fine hair no matter what the color. Forget laser unless you want to throw your money away.
Expect skin reaction on body work especially. It shouldn’t be too harsh, but don’t freak out if you see something. The skin has been disturbed, so what do you expect!? Take care of it and it will heal faster.
Keep us updated and ask questions as you desire. First time’s for anything can be confusing.
The dots on your belly are par for the course. I’ve had a few treatments there and it just happens because, well, they are giving you hundreds of miniature injuries, what do you expect? It will fade within a week, I’m sure (that’s how long mine take, and I scar verrrrry easily, so I’m sure you’ll be fine).
Regarding your thin chest hairs: Yeah they can be treated absolutely. She must only use thicker probes or little magnification. Try someone else, because electrologists kill “peach fuzz” hair all the time. Definitely don’t do laser, that is only for coarse hair (like leg hair or armpit hair), and may even induce MORE growth. Bad news bears.
