five o'clock

will electrologist get rid of five o’clock shadows?

Yes, Permanent Hair Removal by Electrolysis, will end permanently end 5 o’clock shadow, since the shadow is caused by hair growing under the skin. It takes a while, as Hair Removal is performed one hair at a time, but it is very effective at what it does.

Do you have any pictures you can show us?

Permanent Hair Removal > ELECTROLYSIS will be help, but on some other posts you were talking about using skin lightening products.

You can read more about skin lightening products on this website. Hydroquinone is a compound that may be banned soon in the United States, if it isn’t already. In concentrations of 4%, it is pretty effective if the five o’clock shadow is hyperpigmentation you are really seeing. There are natural ingredients that are preferred over hydroquinone.

Try doing a search on hairtell for ‘hydroquinone’ so you can educate yourself.

Licorice extract (even better in a non-alcoholic solution) is a good natural lightener that many of my clients just rave about.

Hi James,

Can you tell us what your clients use? Where do you buy products that have licorice extract? Is it a cream, gel, oil?

I keep hearing about licorice extract and kojic acid, but honestly, if one of my clients asked me where to buy these products, I would have no idea how to guide them. Are they safe to use on all skin colors and skin types?

Arlene, I’d like to knock on your door as well and ask you to please add your thoughts about this as well.

Thanks to both of you,

Dee

james, would love to hear where one could get alcohol-free licorice extract and kojic acid for topical use at reasonable cost.

it’s not sold at bj’s or costco by the gallon (sob)

It is hard to find natural products that have not been adulterated, or ridiculously overpriced.

Nature’s Answer Inc out of Hauppage NY www.NaturesAnswer.com sells an alchohol-free licorice root extract suspended in coconut glycerin and water. It retails for about $10 per ounce and is used by the drop. A little goes a long way. My clients love it.

It is available at many stores, and here is the page from the maker:

so…this licorice root extract would be for hyperpigmentation purposes???

Yes, it would work for that, and evening out skin tone in general.
