OK, so I’m finally getting electrolysis.
Went into this place for a consultation and the lady was SO LOVELY.
She’s worked for over 20 years and everything was so clean and immaculate and she had posters about hair growth everywhere - basically really professional.
She was more than happy to do my areas (shoulder, chest, stomach).
She said she wants to work on my most hated area first (shoulders) and then work her way from there.
Did a sample with blend and said this will be the option for now as the hairs are fairly long.
She also said I should come in every 2 weeks (or 1 depending on what I can afford).
She also said I could bring my ipod in, read a magazine or whatever when she did the treatment
So I had an hour treatment on my shoulders/top of back neck area. Went pretty well but I thought she’d remove more hairs.
She was using blend. She said something about roots being deep so she would use blend for that area.
Should i ask her to switch - i have an appointment tomorrow.
I always use one of the thermolysis modes on back hair. There is a lot of territory to cover and thermolysis is just as deadly to hair as blend is. My frame of reference comes from what my epilator can do. The thermolysis modes I have at my beak and call are simply amazing, Synchro, MultiPlex and PicoFlash. If I had to work with older generation epilators, I would still remove hair permanently, but at a much slower rate. Deep roots or not a well engineered epilator, can damage follicles that hold very coarse hairs. Another thing, it would be very wise if she used the largest probe possible and if she has an option where she can bypass the foot switch and go into an automatic mode where the current fires on it’s own as this will increase speed. Insertions have got to be deep enough as well. Sometimes two pulses are needed.
You can only do what you can do with the practitioner you have. She is not doing this wrong, but there are ways to do this faster than blend and still have hair affected so it can not grow back.
If she has a newer generation epilator, then she should learn how to use it. Many electrologists get the best epilators we have on the market and then revert back to the familiar Clareblend for blend when all they need to do is call the manufacturer or ask a colleague some important questions on how to use the new epilator. I have said many times that electrolysis companies need a DVD to give more detail about proper use of their products. I get e-mails and phone calls frequently asking for help. I’m glad to help in the capacity I can, but it would be better to have the company representatives respond about their product in a discussion forum where all can see and learn.
Thermolysis would be faster, but you need an electrologist who is comfortable using it or it won’t be effective on deep hairs because it requires more skill to treat with thermolysis.
Are you male or female btw? Did you take before pictures? You’ll want to them later.
