Hiya, well this post is pretty much summed up in the title, I’m wondering about electrologists.
At the moment I’m undergoing laser, which is going very well and everyones been fab on here in regards to answering my questions and worries, but now I’m trying to stay ahead of the game and think about an electrologist for when my hairs become to fine.
The areas that I would want to be treated would be buttocks, upper arms, chest, abdomen, back and shoulders, pretty much most of my upper body.
Iv’e tried looking up electrologists on the British Association and Institute of Electrolysis, however, the few that are registered there and are within a reaosnable distance of me still use relativley outdated machines e.g. Blend and foot pedal type o’ job.
Iv’e looked up other salons simply looking through the yellow pages and Internet, but have had little success as when I start to ask questions about which method they use (preferred would be microflash, after reading plenty of posts stating that this is the fastest method on the market) and other related questions, they imeadiatley get their backs up and give me a sharp pert answer along the lines of “We are qualified electrologists and we know what were doing” (I’m not doubting that, but I would like to know what your doing to me).
Iv’e also tried using the tips that lagirl kindly wrote down for people visiting this forum, but unfortunatly most of the websites and routes apply mainly to the united states (but still none the less very helpful, in regards to questions to be asked etc).
So to sum this up, I’m just wondering if anyone knows of a particurally good electrologist around the South East of England that is quick and effective?
Kind regards,
Ben
I know how you feel Ben, it sounds exactly what I’ve come up against…what’s so wrong about asking questions, after all your paying for the treatment! 4 years ago when I started out on this journey, I was feeling that I had something to aim for, but longer the search goes on the more depressed I’m becoming. A friend had successful treatment on her upper lip, unfortunately the Electrologist has now retired. I keep ploughing through various forums (not all hair related) in the hope that I will stumble upon a recommedation in my county. Keep your chin up and good luck with your search!

It is embarassing how some people in this industry treat prospective customers and current clients.
The reason they don’t want you asking questions is because they don’t want to have to justify their choices, and in some cases, are simply too embarrased to say “Because that is all I know how to do.”
The biggest problem with answering questions from customers and clients is the whole thing where you must justify your choices. If you perform galvanic and the questioner believes blend is best, you are in an argument. If you perform Thermolysis and the questioner believes galvanic is best, you are in an argument. Add to that, the way many electrolysists hold fast to their modality as if it were a religion, and you have the foundation for a bad exchange of words.
I once had a client who bought into the “Blend is the only thing that works, and anyone doing Thermolysis on you is cheating you out of your money” thing. I calmly explained that when done properly, they both worked, and offered that we could do an experiment. I would do half her upper lip with blend, and the other half with thermolysis, and she could be the judge. If she decided that she still wanted Blend after looking at them side by side, I would perform all future work in blend (helps that I know how to do all the modalities) It did not take more than 3 treatments in this fashion for her to announce that she trusted me, and wanted the rest of her treatments in thermolysis.
I guess some others might have shouted:
“I am the one whose got the pretty pieces of paper on the wall! Now shut up and take what I am giving Beyotch!”
