Hiding face electrolysis

I have the thickest beard known to man. I have tried everything and I cannot shave more than two times a week…and if I use electric MAYBE 3 times. I bleed like crazy, get ingrowns, and massive irritation if I try it anymore than that…and it already looks bad as it is.

With that said, I am looking into getting some beard electrolysis, at least a couple clearances. Especially on my neck area. My face and cheeks aren’t near as bad as the irritation I get by my adams apple and to the sides. It gets real bad. My neck hair is real thick.

I want to do it all at once because I’m going to have a ton of irritation. I’m probably going to need to get at least a week off of work as well because I’ll look terrible from the irritation for some time. What is the best way to mask it? Makeup? Powder? What can I do so I can go to work without sticking out like a sore thumb

Does electrolysis on the face respond better to body electrolysis? The area below my adams apple and chest where I don’t have necessarily a “beard” but still have hair. I got that done a year ago and it has looked really good ever sense. For me that area responded alot better than any other area on my body.

What you look like will depend on the equipment used, and the skill of the practitioner doing the work.

I have cleared men with 500 hairs per centimeter, and all of it growing in different directions.

Most of my beard clearances who show up Friday or Saturday are able to go to work on Monday or Tuesday with no one asking “What happened to you?”

Aftercare is the best thing you can do other than choosing the best practitioner you can. As your skin is healing it is not a good idea to use cover ups during the first 72 hours after treatment, although some electrologists sell a product called “Dermablend” for just this purpose. It is a colored medicated lotion.

Is there something wrong with my browser. Where did all the other posts on this thread go?

I’m glad you posted Chuck! I was tired Monday night when I typed a very long reply to someone about mineral makeup and thought maybe I had imagined the whole thing!

I am also in the dark. At least ten posts I made have also vanished. I think the threat level should be raised to Yellow Alert.

If James or whoever can’t fix this, then I have a hard copy of your mineral makeup post, Choice. I thought it was great infornation and wanted it for my files.

I would be glad to re-type it on this thread for you or Chuck if that particular post truly vanished and can’t be recovered.

Dee

That would be great dfahey. When I end up getting some face electrolysis I’m going to need a way to figure out how to cover it up without irritating the skin and follicles even more than they already will be.

lol what is going on with these threads. i blame terrorists

…oh ok, it is not just me - and I thought I had reached stage 2 with advanced HairTell symptoms:

Stage 1: Getting addicted to this site.

Stage 2: Making up phantom posts in your dream.

Nope… still at stage 1

Chuck, you can call me Dee. I’m stuck with a screen name that I don’t like, but there are worse things to dwell on, I guess.

Here goes with “Choice’s” helpful post from 3-18 at 9:24pm. If it disappears again, then I think I know who to blame.

"The above are all good, but I prefer mineral makeup over Dermablend. A good mineral makeup helps reduce redness and actually helps with healing. The ingredients in mineral makeup are anti-inflammatory. Mineral makeup will not become contaminated as liquid and cream foundations do.

Yes, you let the moisturizer absorb for a couple minutes and then apply the foundation. A kabuki brush gives more coverage than a typical powder brush. Wash the brush, daily if possible, as it can become contaminated.

The brands I’ve personally used are bareMinerals, Sheer Cover, Everyday Minerals, Aromaleigh, Master’s Touch and L’Oreal.I like L’Oreal the least. It was heavy, I knew I had it on. When you wear quality mineral makeup, you can’t feel it, you forget you’re wearing foundation. Sheer Cover was my second least favorite. Currently, I’m mixing bareMinerals with Master’s Touch. I haven’t been able to find my perfect shade, so I have to mix a dab of medium in with light. Everyday Minerals is probably my favorite. I prefer a matte or or a semi-matte finish, and bareMinerals and the others tend to be too shiny on me. I originally started out in the bare Minerals “club” so I still have a couple more containers or medium to use. I don’t recommend the clubs. You get the same size container, with less product than if you buy it separately like at Sephora, Alta, etc. I saw an ad in Skin, Inc. advertising Everyday Minerals to spas, etc. Otherwise, as far as I know, it’s available only online. Master’s Touch is the best to buy. They are the only ones who truly fill the container.

Dermatologists used to recommend brands like Dermablend for acne patients. It often made the acne worse. They are now recommending mineral makeup. Many sell brands like Jane Iredale, which also make Glo mineral, a lighter formula.

Two ingredients to look for are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide,as those are anti-inflammatory ingredients. Those ingredients also make the foundation an SPF of 12-15. I’m not sure all the above brands have both. I know Everyday Minerals does and I’m pretty sure bareMinerals does. You should still wear a sunscreen under it. But it’s nice to know you have extra protection"

Thanks, Choice for sharing your expertise. You’re the greatest!

Thanks for reposting that Dee!
