I always get weekly treatments on my upper and lower lip. The biggest problem I am having is the noticeable redness and swelling in that area. I don’t really mind it, but my friends are starting to see a pattern. No one has asked me yet, but I need to have a good excuse. The allergy thing will not work anymore.
If you tell your friends the truth, what would that mean?
Hi Arlene,
Merry Christmas.
That may be my only choice. My electrologist has also suggested I do the same.
are you using aftercare like witch hazel and tea tree oil? it speeds up the healing. also, i use a concealer on top, so you can’t really tell.
My electrologist uses Tea Tree oil on me, but it’s always the immediately after the treatment, where the swelling is at it’s worst. Thats when it gets me weird looks.
i usually use that and put a concealer on top when i leave her office and then wash it off at home and put on witch hazel and/or tea tree oil for a few days afterwards twice a day.
If you a NOT an oily skin type, ice the area immediately after treatment. Does the electrologist have ice packs available? If not, tell her to get them. Ice for not more than 5 minutes, then apply aloe. That’ll cut down on the swelling. Should you have very oily skin, icing might cause you to break out. If that is the case, apply and repply aloe and tea tree oil which is better for oily skin.
I don’t hide my electrolysis anymore, but when I did, if anyone was rude enough to say “what happened to your face?” I would always tell them “rajor burn.” That’s what the redness and bumps looked like. If I were you, though, I’d tell them to mind their own business. After all, you wouldn’t go up to someone and say “Boy, you sure have bad acne!” would you?
I think you should just tell them!! everyone uses different methods of hair removal. I used to hide it too, but now my whole family, and many of my freinds know when i will have my next laser, or electrolysis treatment done, they often remind me…chances are they are getting laser, or electrolysis done too!!!
