How does thinning work with electrolysis?

I’m wondering how electrologists thin hair (i.e. reduce density) in a given area. Do you just just treat the hair normally until the client is satisfied with the reduction or do just get some hairs and still spread treatment out over the 9-12+ months?

Both the suggestions you make would work.

Do you recommend one method over another?

It seems that getting an area cleared and keeping it cleared for a few months would be more efficient than just getting the same total number of hairs over a year, but I guess with the second you would have a better idea of how much reduction you were achieving. Is that right? For the first method, how long would it take to really assess the level of reduction? A few hair cycles?

I treat as much hair as possible in as short a time as the client’s appointment schedule allows, and in about 3 months time, they have a difference they can see, especially if they look at before and after shots. From there, it is just a case of continueing the treatment until they are happy enough to call themselves finished.
