Local electrologist?

Hello All

I’ve currently made the decision to have electrolysis done on the sides of my face as well as under my neck. I’m in search of a reputable electrologist in the San Fernando Valley, CA. Pricing is not an issue but electrologist must be proven to have permanent hair removal record.

Can anyone recommend an electrologist?

Anyone?

If you use the search feature, you can find where people have talked about their experiences in the area you have described. Of course, if everyone actually put their city in the profile information, one would have an additional tool to help find good practitioners near them.

Why don’t you list some sample cities you are canvassing.

I see, Very sorry.

I live in Los Angeles.
My Surrounding cities are:
Sherman oaks
Burbank
Woodland hills
Studio City
Van Nuys
Encino
Tarzana
Valley Village
Taluca Lake
Hollyweird
North Hollywood

Hollyweird???

LAgirl and a few others have listed lots of practitioners in your area, and have given them reviews in our referral directory.

I guess the reason no one replied to you is there is so much info for that area already available on the site if you search for those names in the referral section and elsewhere on the site.

At least that is what I am telling myself to keep from thinking that the HairTell members have forgotten that it takes all of us working together to make this work.

I’ve gone to Descanso Electrolysis run by Judee Carrico. She’s got an older machine and I think she might only do blend (although I’m not sure about that. At the time that I went to her, I didn’t know as much about the different modalities as I do now). She’s very good and I liked her alot. It’s a little out of your city range, but not much. She’s in Montrose, just off the 2 Freeway. I’m in Burbank and it wasn’t that much of a drive. Her phone number is: (818) 249-5489.

I’ve also gone to Zap Electrolysis and saw Tina Reynolds. I also loved Tina. She was great. Tina is in Westwood and her phone is: (310) 474-4787. I understand she’s very busy now and is hard to book appointments with, but she has two others sharing her space. I’m not familiar with them, but if Tina trusts them, then I would, too.

Finally, I’m currently seeing Robin Harris at the Charlotte James Skin Care Clinic. I also highly recommend Robin. She is in Westwood as well, only a few blocks actually from where Tina is. Robin’s number is: (310) 208-2556.

The reasons I switched are complicated, but had nothing to do with the competence of the practitioners. I can recommend all of them. There may be others closer to you, but those are the ones with which I have experience.

If you run a search for “Los Angeles” using the Advanced Search feature, you’ll find all of our recommendations.

I’ve also seen both Tina and Robin and they’re both great if you don’t mind driving to Westwood. Another one in the same area that’s often recommended is Layla. The closest one to you that I have tried personally is Sabrena Smith in Hollywood. I had a few concerns with her, but none of them were related to the efficacy of the treatments or equipment. Tina, Robin, and Sabrena have the best Apilus machine and are all good at electrolysis, offering all newest methods. I’m not sure what machine Layla uses now, but someone on the forum is using her for male face treatments and is very happy.

Keep in mind that there are a bunch of electrologists near you in Sherman Oaks and in nearby cities. So it’s not necessary to drive to the ones we recommend. We found them by trying them out and you can do the same with those near you. Run a Google search, call them, ask what type of machine and electrolysis they use. If they use an Apilus machine, which seems to be the norm in LA, that would be great. Then get a sample treatment. If you don’t feel the hairs being plucked and they’re pretty fast, and leave your skin looking good, stick with them. Electrolysis is a good 1-yr commitment at least, so it helps to have someone nearby. You can also try one of the ones we recommend and compare them to those near you.

Thank you all so very much for your responses. It seems that you really have to get out there and try what there is to offer before making a decision. I will keep Layla in mind since she has some good feedback with facial hair.

Thanks again.
