Can anybody let me know if you have a great referral to an electrologist in Silver Spring or Rockville, Maryland? Would rather not travel into DC or VA.
Thanks so much.

I don’t understand the title “MD recommendation”? MD’s (medical doctors) don’t have time to frequent a hair removal site. Other hair consumers are more likely to help out and I hope they do soon.
Meanwhile, you can go to www.electrology.com and search for a practitioner in your locale. Just interview them and sample a treatment. There are several in Rockville.
Did you have probe electrolysis before or were you duped with gels and patches or something like electrronic tweezes? Make sure that you are getting PROBE electrolysis.
dfahey - ‘MD’ is the state abbreviation for the state of Maryland. Yes, I plan to interview practitioners, but was hoping for a good referral to help narrow the candidates.
Oh, and yes, it was probe electrolysis, in NYC, and took a LONG time. Is it ‘impossible’ (with proper use) that an upper lip takes 2 years until there is no regrowth? I may be an extreme case…
Oh sorry, how obtuse of me not to recognize the other meaning for MD (I’m bumping my head).
Even my most severe and prolonged waxers, pluckers and threaders have never taken 2 years at the rate of 1-2 hours per week! That is incredible and I can’t figure out why that happened to you without knowing more details. How much hair do you have in this area today??? Be sure to tell any electrologists that you interview and tell them about 1-2 hour appointments every week for two years and see if they contort their face or skirm in their chair. Do you have any damage to your skin?

i can’t decide if it’s good or bad that my previous electrolysis experience was extraordinary. seems that either the practitioner was doing it wrong, or i’m an extraordinary case. I pray it’s not the latter.
I now have no hair on my upper lip at all. No damage to my skin.
generally speaking, for someone of mediteranean heritage with course facial hair, how long, in your experience, would it take for a complete regimen of electrolysis sessions for the entire face/neck (minus the upper lip!)?
thanks.
Answers to “how long” questions are imprecise. We work longer and have closer sessions up front and later, about at the 6 month mark, we can spread the appointments out and usually they are shorter.
I can’t see you, but even if I could, I would tell you in general terms that it would take 9-12 months at minimum, but for all the hair you describe, it could be 12, 15, 18, 24 months? I don’t know about your body’s genetic timetable, your medications, stress level, hormonal environment… So many variables makes time predictions impossible. That is why an electrologist will say, when we’re finished we’re finished. I stick my neck out a little and say generally speaking, about 9-12 months if you are consistent with your appointments, maybe more time if you are not or have a hormonal thing happening or other behaviors that will throw things off. Also, this depends on the skill of your electrologist, her equipment and modality used can hasten the timetable or slow it down.
The best thing I can advise is to stick to a plan and find a good electrolgist. With that said, I predict you will be finsihed in under two years and that’s not going every week for 1 or 2 hours even.

She uses the Apilus Platinum.
I have met Sally at many conventions, but I have not had any work done by her. I would think you would be in good hands with her.
