So I have read on the forums that “metal in the body” matters when dealing with galvanic or blend electrolysis. I’m soon going to be going to a person that uses blend and was wondering what this statement meant. I tried using the search option in the forums but it brought back too broad of results. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Nate:
Both Blend and Galvanic modality utilize Direct Current. DC flows from probe through the body via path of least resistance to a ground rod and back to the epilator. If there is metal in the body anywhere between the two points, the current will search out the metal to use during its path.
In my case, I have three steel pins in my right hip. If I were doing electrolysis with either of those modalities on my right leg and the ground were say in my right hand, the electricity would flow almost certainly through these metal pins. This can cause some undesirable magnetic effects as well as possibly hurt the joints where they are in the bone. It also makes it more likely that electricity will flow through muscles which can cause them to contract as the current flows.
The point is to keep metal away from the flow of current. Also keep the distance short if possible between the two contact points.
Ok, thanks for clearing that up! I was thinking it was for people taking iron supplements or something more along those lines.
Iron supplements are not a problem (unless you are taking them in quantities serious enough to cause severe damage to yourself). All people have iron in their systems, that is essential for hemoglobin but the chemistry and quantity don’t make you a lightning rod.
