My consultation & 1st treatment (blend)

I had my consultation and first treatment today. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the electrologist and the fact that she took her time explaining the process in detail, as well as the pros/cons of both laser and electrolysis (I have what I believe to be laser-induced growth).

Before starting the treatment, she inserted the needle in my skin while the machine was off to show me that there was no pain from the actual needle insertion, but that the slight discomfort I may feel will be from the actual heat/chemical process once inserted. She used the blend method where I held onto a metal wand wrapped in a wet paper towel (I think?), and each insertion lasted around 6 seconds. To be honest, I didn’t expect the needle to remain in the follicle for that long, but I won’t complain if it works! She said blend works best for hairs like mine: dark and thick.

She also told me that part of the reason I’ve been noticing darkness in that area is because my chin hairs tend to grow sideways, and partially under my skin, so what I’m seeing is the shadow from just below the skin. As for the hyperpigmentation, she said it is due to shaving and should lighten over time once I’m no longer shaving.

Also, she told me that while my chin hair may seem bad to me, she couldn’t notice it sitting across from me, and then even under the magnifier she said compared to others mine would be considered slight to minimal. This definitely gave me hope.

After 10 minutes she asked if I’d like her to keep going and try for 20 or 30, and I said sure. After 30 minutes, all of my dark, thick visible chin hairs had been removed. She even squeezed out a couple blackheads for me LOL (don’t even wanna know what my skin looks like under magnification lol).

She told me to schedule my next appointment once I notice some growth, and this way I’ll get results quicker and catch the hairs in the growing phase.

Immediately after treatment I had bumps that resembled mosquito bites. She gave me a baggie of ice and told me to ice the area for at least an hour, and by the evening it should be mostly diminished. While the majority of the bumps disappeared, I do still have some bumps and I’m hoping they go away soon. But other than that, I have no scabs, dots, redness or anything. Here is a picture of my chin 10 hours post-treatment (sorry for the not-so-great quality):

Does this look normal? Does anyone recommend anything else to help the healing besides the ice?

Here’s a better picture showing the bumps. It also looks slightly swollen. Nevertheless, I thought it would look much worse than this after treatment. Does this look promising in terms of a good healing?

Me again!

Just wanted to add a pic from pre-laser as a reference. Again, I believe that my chin hair growth was laser-induced. I only sought laser treatment after noticing a few stray hairs right on my jawline. Prior to that my entire chin area was virtually hairless (well, maybe not hairless, but all there that was visible was peachfuzz).

Looks amazing! I think if any red bumps come up it’ll happen only the day after, so by the 24 hour mark you should be clear of anything else happening. Blend is slower simply because the galvanic current needs time to flow through the needle (well, that’s my uneducated understanding ;)) and anything shorter would be termed thermolysis.

I have the same peach fuzz problem as you, and my hairs also seem to grow sideways. I’ve had a couple of sessions of “blend” which was more like thermolysis, and I’ll go for some more when I have time. I think they’ve really helped though!

And icing is definitely important for me as well, I always ice the area for as long as I possibly can. It helps so much with swelling. I had next to no scabbing. I also used tea tree oil at night and witchhazel during the day, with aloe gel for moisturising.
