When there is tissue injury, our body starts the inflammatory process that causes the release of certain substances (mainly histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandins and leukotrienes) contained in the terminations painful skin. This leads to the arrival of white blood cells (defense) and produces blood vessel dilation and increased capillary permeability (swelling or edema).
These chemicals released by the cells around the lesion have an action on the pain (stimulate peripheral nociceptors, conveying the pain) and inflammatory activity (vasodilation and edema). That response initiates the inflammatory reaction and marks the first step of defense and repair of body tissues.
All vasodilators cause headaches. wine, sun, snuff, coffee.
Your case is very rare, but could be caused by vasodilation of the treated area.
Vasodilation, I learnt a new word. Thanks for that. : ) I’ll see what happens in the next few days and if it happens again. Will just take two tablets instead of one. Don’t really like relying too much on them though!

I had another half hour session today and it didn’t feel painful until right in the centre of the upper lip! I can feel the electricity. I was thinking: the things a girl has to go through.
Peace1 It would be nice if you take before and after pictures, It’s really cool to look at them when your done. I would really like to see your progress.
I don’t know how long it’s gonna take. I mean I go for half an hour and twice a week if I can but I have sooo many little hairs e.g. on the upper lip, that even a reduction seems to be verrryyyyy slow. Was your upper lip like your sister’s or more like mine? I’m happy about her progress and she must be too!
I have a before picture but have not taken an after picture because I’m working towards reduction then clearance, rather than clearance and keeping up with the clearance. So i don’t think you would be able to see much of a difference. Maybe between the eyebrows is different but I don’t want to disappoint anyone. However, I might just to see if anyone can see any reduction.
I still have plenty of very fine, very short upper lip hairs… probably the kind that you are trying to reduce right now.
Since I bleach them, they are barely visible. From a normal distance it doesn’t really look like I have any/much hair there now. People I know have commented how great it looks. What is left doesn’t bother me in the slightest and looks natural.
I am so happy that today I feel so much more confident.
I had 30 minutes done on eyebrows and upper lip.
On my test patch and then my first appointment, we did the hairs around the end of the eyebrows, towards the edge of the face. They haven’t come back except for a couple and it looks really clean.
I also think Sharon was on a role today.
At first she commented that my eyebrows are lovely and she would love to have a pair of those. LOL I said to her, they have so much hair though! And I wouldn’t be here then.
Anyway when I came home I looked in the mirror and saw that the reduction is going really well. I did notice before today that the reduction on the sides of the upper lip as well as in between the eyebrows is so good, but was concerned about the hair where the lips starts and ends. However when I came back today I saw that they were reduced to a great extent. She also used diathermy on the middle part of the upper lip and warned me it would be sharp and it was! They were used for the tiny hairs I have there.
I didn’t take ibruprofen today and dreaded tge appoitment but actually I felt okay and it wasn’t as painful as other times. I was also quite stressed today because of major delays on the trains and then wondering around the area looking for a shop to buy something but then finding out I have no idea where I have walked to lol. All in all it was a good day today and very summery.
Are my eyebrows oddly shaped? I have two pictures, if anyone wants to see and tell me what they think, post here please. I will send it as a private message.
Would you be opposed to posting a picture that is cropped so that only the eyes are visible? I could handle doing that for you, and you can have the opinion of the general community. It is a highly subjective question that you are asking, after all.
peace1, I agree that you could post a cropped photo for more opinions. I am kind of obsessed with my brows, so I know what it’s like to want to be sure they complement your eyes and face shape. If you’d like, you can pm me the photos and I’ll tell you what I think. (Keep in mind, yours can be a unique shape and still be perfect for you, you should base your eyebrows on your personal bone structure and not based on what looks good on anyone else)

I don’t really want too much of a shape, but the excess hair removed which will probably lead to a shape which goes with my face. But it seems that from the middle, too much has been taken off from one side (or it could be one hair that was taken out which made it all look uneven).

For myself, I plucked the excess around my eyebrows that I wanted gone and then got Sharon to tackle them when it started growing back. Because then it’s very obvious to see what hairs have been plucked and I would want gone.
For my sister, she started off having clearance in the area between the brow and the hairline and the glabella. But we want her eyebrows to be tidied up too. So a couple of days ago, I plucked away all the excess from the underside and ends. Now, when they start to come back through, Sharon can tackle them and we don’t need to worry that she’ll do some hairs that my sister doesn’t want gone.
That makes sense probably. My hairs move all over the place on the sides so I am never sure of a set shape although I do have one in mind i.e not a thin line or anything like that. But as I’m going for reduction I’d be scared to pluck as that would defeat it lol. But it’s only the middle part which looks like an extra hair has been taken out, which is why I think she hasn’t touched that in a long time but maybe you’ll see from the pictures.
