My Electrolysis Journey

I have been using Apilus machines since the 90’s, and have used Apilus machines from the 80’s, and I have NEVER had one crash on me. Let me highlight the significance of that statement. My electrolysis machines are run 8 to 16 hours a day, and frequently left on all night.

The only “Over software” problem I ever had with them was the security system on the SX-500 made it impossible to work without the detachable S-Ram Card, so if you lost it, or the watch battery in the card burned out, you suddenly were out of business until you could get a new CR-2525, or CR-2025 watch battery. In the event of a power failure while the machine was in the on position, you might find yourself locked out of the system, and in need of a dectro tech to talk you through a complicated authentication process to unlock the system to get back in. Of course, EVERY time this happened to me it was on a weekend when the offices were closed, and I had to wait until Monday for them to open.

Those were the only “problems” I ever had. I never went to make a setting, or found myself in the middle of treatment, and experienced a “Windows Millennium Style freeze up and crash”.

Really, why can’t they just tell the truth and say they were afraid of the digital read outs, and could not wrap their minds around treatment settings that were not done on analog stereo knobs.

I went for a half hour appointment today and my electrologist told me that when you look at me from straight ahead it doesn’t really look like I have hair on my upper lip(I think it might look a little shadowy though). She also thinks my eyebrows are going well because they have a good natural shape.

I asked her to remove my chin hairs too, so she did a few, since they do bug me.

I’m not going to go for a few weeks now to see what type of regrowth comes back in 3 weeks time or so.

I guess I should post pics but I need to get my camera to work.

I had a half hour appointment today. It’s been a month and ten days since I last went jusding by the above post.

She told me there is regrowth on my upperlip, moreso on the right side. She also mentioned that although hair has grown back at the eyebrows, it’s not as much as she thought would in between the eyebrows.

She did a good amount today but will be away for 2 weeks.

I booked an appoitnment anyway with someone else who works there so I’ll see how treatment goes then will give feedback here.

I had a 30 minute appointment with Livia and I have to say I am absolutely delighted with her work.

She was very focused and I didn’t feel as much pain. She concentrated on each area well and I feel I hardly have any hairs, just from one session.

I feel like I should go to her more often but I don’t want to upset my normal electrologist.

I think people shouldn’t be afraid of going to the others in the centre. She asked me to run through what has been done briefly, I explained and she did everything I need and honestly, she is really good at her work.

Once, and only once, I had my SM-500 freeze up and I had to reboot it. I have no idea why this happened. I have it on a power conditioner. Needless to say, I was a bit concerned about it, but I was not able to recreate it, and it has not happened again.

If anything is faulty, I suspect it was either the battery in the s-ram card, or the s-ram card itself. If it happens again I will replace them.

They all use the same machines so do you think Livia may have been using lower currents hence less pain?

Also, I’m wondering that if she did blend, how long on average was the current passing for? Sharon usually only does 3-4 seconds.

I doubt Sharon will mind if you decide to see Livia, she’s not that sort of person from my experience.

I don’t think she lowered the current. There is guidance on the paper and she said she’ll see how my skin reacts and she knew some of my hairs are really thin so may have to switch to diarthermy so she followed what was on the paper.

I’m not saying it didn’t hurt. It did, but she sat on the side of my face for upperlip rather than above my head. I think this helped as she pressed onto the area more and Joesfa has mentioned that lessened the pain. Near the middle of the lip it did hurt a lot, maybe I just had a tablet at a better time (normally I take it way on advance) or her fingers pressing helped. My eyebrows still felt painful though but then again during upperlip I was thinking a lot and that usually helps. I don’t know, so many factors!

I felt that Livia was very fast and I was timing her too. She’d pass the current, then use the other hand to get the hair and the machine sounded. It was a little different to Sharon but I really liked the flow and the order in the way she did that. I’d say the current was 3 seconds on average. It was very quick.

I just wanted to point out that people don’t need to focus on one. Someone mentioned on here that Elaine has quicker insertions but whatever the case, I am really pleased with the result from Livia. I don’t think my upperlip has been so clear after a session (my hair grew back by the way since I haven’t been in ages and even after last week a lot of hair grew back) so I am glad to say that next week I will be with Livia too as Sharon is still out.

Congratulations Peace!!! Livia knows how to make you feel more comfortable.

(Except for the eyebrows, I’m always parallel to my client).

I had another 30 minute appointment with Livia today.

I have to say her treatments are fantastic.

Last week she did a really good job of making it look like I don’t have much hair on my upperlip because a lot had grown back, or all had, after that break I had. I don’t normally get such a good clearance. A week later I thought, should I still go for my appointment or not? But I did because I really want those little hairs gone too.

What I like about Livia is that she has a lot of focus. She works on an area, moves to the next and so on and she is more daring to do those hairs in the middle. Yes, it hurts, but it is worth it and I can bare it.

I asked her about settings and she says she does the same as what is written on the sheet and goes higher if need be, and lower for the really sensitive areas if needed. Just as anyone else would. Which is correct anyway.

I was going to book an appointment with Sharon next week to compare but unfortunately someone has booked during the time I am free so I am going to Livia again if I need to, although I probably will tell her to work on another area now as upperlip hardly has anything in my opinion. I do recommended her to everyone. As well as Sharon.

It is fantastic to hear that all is progressing well, and it sounds like you have now acheived the level of clearance you require. Now that you have completed six months of treatment, the most difficult time is over with, and from hereon, duration and frequency of treatment will greatly reduce. Well done,Peace.

The difficult time is over, yes. I can imagine hair still growing through but its barable now and I’m just getting rid of the shadow and time to move onto the next area! Hopefully in Spain.

I feel really down on sunny days like this. :frowning:

I feel I have so many hairs all over my face and at odd angles which are not even really small so they are noticeable. On my chin where the bone is I have dark hairs which are so noticeable even if I tried to ignore the ones above it.

Peace, it is frustrating to know that things would be resolved in one or two hours and not can do anything for you.

I have traveled to London two times, for reasons of tourism, when I think of the time I spent in the queue to enter the wax museum Madame Tussauds, your problem could have been resolved. Damn!

Lol.

I wonde if you could come to the UK and use someone else’s apilus machine. I would pay for everything for you! It would be cheaper than me going to Spain because I would have to take someone with me.

I will come to you one day and I look forward to that day.

Peace

There is a Spanish proverb that says: There is never two without three. Hopefully this proverb was true. I love the spirit of London.

I had a 30 minute appointment again today but this time with Sharon again.

She started with the upperlip and worked on it most but she was using her new sterex machine. When she was doing the right side of the upperlip it was almost pain free. However, when she started working on the left side and anything after that hurt a lot. Especially the eyebrows and the sides of the eyebrows. It hurt so much I wanted to stop but I held my teeth. Then when I left I thought, why did I think to stop, because now I don’t even think of the pain. It is just very sharp and uncomfortable.

I was okay with it though. When I came home I looked at the work and I have to say I prefer how Livia does the eyebrows because I feel maybe Sharon takes off too much hair, but I will make sure I mention in future that I don’t want more than a certain point removed.

Did you mention that it was hurting a lot? Maybe she changed the settings? It would be worth knowing why there was a difference in sensation.

She didn’t touch the machine when she did it but I know the left side always hurts more for me. Maybe she did higher the settings with eyebrows, or maybe my nerves were too tense which is what made the pain worse for me, but I was feeling really uncomfortable. I haven’t touched the sides of eyebrows for ages which is why they grew back, but I didn’t care because I didn’t want to go through the pain, but when she said should I work on those areas I agreed so it doesn’t matter really, as eyebrows always hurt me a lot.

I went for another 30 minute appointment today.

We worked mostly on upperlip and did a few hairs mid eyebrows. It didn’t hurt today, I think I was more prepared for the pain. It’s wierd, at times even the mid lip doesn’t hurt, but the only time it does is when diarthermy is used.

She did a few chin hairs too, which you know I have been concerned about, but she mentioned it herself that we can do some there as we did before (to use up the 30 minutes). She used blend instead of diarthermy which she used before, but I am glad because blend is easier to take.

All in all, good appointment today. I think she felt maybe I didn’t like the middle of the upper lip being treated because of the pain but I didn’t really feel it as I was trying to think of other things.

The middle upper lip is usually ouchy for most people, but many times it is not as bad as the tearing (as in water coming out of the tear ducts in the eyes) it can cause. That is more bothersome than the sensation for many people. All in all, it is a very sensitive area and EMLA or LMX helps numb or at the very least, it takes off the edge.
