Thanks, M_D for that info and pictures are always a great adjunct to anyone’s hair removal experience.
You are getting thermolysis, right? I’m thinking it’s not microflash thermolysis though. Save me from reading a book and refresh me please.

Sorry for the slow response
Yes, it’s flash, not micro. Nobody in my area does micro. From what I gather the difference isn’t really that large between the two technologies. It’s all about how competent your electrologist is. I’d rather go at a slightly slower pace and achieve good results rather than try to break the sound barrier and have poor results.
Anyways, it looks like I’m rolling up on month 8 now. I’d have to say that my back does look A LOT better. I’ve been working on the back of the neck/upper back area right now so I’ve had chance to see what kind of regrowth I’m getting in the other areas - and it’s really not all that much. I just need to keep reminding myself that this is going to require a lot of diligence and patience on my part.
I’ll post a more in depth update once 9 month are up
Updates are always desired.Thanks M_D.
There are differences between flash and microflash, but the underlying concept is, they both will permanently remove hair, just like manual thermolysis, blend and galvanic. It’s always good to repeat and underscore the concept about practitioner competence. We all get that part and actually agree!
Breaking the sound barrier is not what micro or picoflash is all about. It’s about the delivery of efficient, repeated, energy that is deadly to hair. The technology keeps getting better, thanks to corporations that invest in research and development.
There should be no electrologist that is more concerned about the number of insertions made over the delivery of correct energy and timing with accurate insertions to each and every single hair follicle. The most efficient energy, coupled with skill equals fabulous results within a decent period of time. If I were getting poor results with microflash, I wouldn’t be working seven days a week. I am not the only electrologist that knows this, by the way. Microflash does not equal faster, but poorer results. Just wanted to make that statement for any new readers tuning in to hairtell.
You are in good hands. Flash with accurate insertions and proper probe selection, is a good strategy. At least you have someone in your area doing this modality for a large area like the back. etc.
Hello all.
Update time
Alright, I’m FINALLY rolling up on the 9 month mark.
I must say it’s already been a long journey and I know that I still have a long way to go. However, at 9 months I’m pretty pleased with the results. The areas that I had initiated 9 months ago are looking pretty damn good in terms of regrowth. I even want to say that a large portion of my right lat is cleared for good. There have been a few odd hairs in there but for the most part I haven’t seen very much regrowth over the last couple of months. I will have to wait until some of the scabbing dissipates (my electrologist has been pretty aggressive:D and I’m a relatively slow healer) before I can draw any firm conclusions.
Now my left side is coming along too. However, it’s been a while since I’ve cleared that portion of my back since we decided to go after the rest of my upper back and get it all cleared up. Right now we’re back to working on the regrowth on that left side. Again, it really isn’t very much compared to when I started. It’ll be interesting to see how much, if any, regrowth I get in that area once I clear it for another time.
Overall the experience has been a complete roller coaster ride for me. Some days I think to myself “Ya, this is totally worth it, you’re gonna get through this by the end.” Whereas on other days my thinking is along the lines of “You’re wasting your time and money. At the pace you’re going you’ll never be done and you’ll never see any permanent results.” Regardless of these thoughts I’ve still been plowing ahead. At this point I really don’t see myself stopping now. I really want to see what it will be like 1 year from when I started. I have 3 solid months left. I will post another update then. Wish my luck.
Until later folks!
Oh, I completely forget to ask a question.
As ridiculous as this sounds it really is a legitimate question.
I’ve noticed on the lobes of my ears some whisps of hair growth (ya, how cruel is nature). I was wondering if this area can be taken care of by electrolysis? I would ask my practitioner but I’m afraid of sounding like a doofus!
Thanks guys!
Electrolysis can be performed on any area of the body, except where there is mucous membranes. These are located inside the ear and nose.
So yes, electrolysis can be performed on this area.

Benji
Hmmn? I answered this post with a lot of detail Sunday and the post has disappeared. Also, I am missing several private messages from March 14th to present. Me thinks there is some hacking happening on hairtell. I’ll spare my time and not make any long posts if this may be the outcome, which may be goods news for some!
