My treatment has begun

Ok guys I went for my first appointment today for 30 minutes. Some of you might have seen my other thread regarding the area I wanted to get treated. Let me tell you, it does hurt but only for few seconds. I had trimmed down the cheek area yesterday so after 24 hours hair was back. She worked on my right side first and I took the pain. As soon as she started working on left side, I wanted to punch a wall because I couldn’t take the pain anymore. The area is red and kind of bumpy but it doesn’t hurt any more. Redness is almost gone and I feel good. I will be going back on Tuesday @ 3pm and she wants 3 day hair so no trimming on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

She did use some kind of cold gel while she was treating me, and after we got done, she put something else there and also gave me ice pack. She told me to use some kind of “Aloe” lotion, so where do I pick one of those up and which kind?

I was in fear that I will be touching the treated area but it feels nice and I don’t even feel like touching it. I hope this really does work on me so I can be hair free in that area.

I want to say Thank you for creating this forum and you don’t know how happy I am at this moment and I don’t even know how I’ll feel after the hair is gone.

Good! see know one but your personal electrologist could answer your time question, because as you now know there are several factors and you don’t want the whole beard removed.

Best Reguards!

well what about lotion, what kind of lotion should I use? The area that was treated today is still sore… is it ok if I wash my face with soap?

thanks

here is my before pic…

Hi:

I don't know if you tried applying some sort of topical anaesthetic such as Emla or L-M-X to the area you are going to have treated about an hour beforehand? You need to follow the instructions carefully.

If that does not help you may want to also try some tylenol 3’s before the treatment.

They say that being well hydrated helps to lessen the pain too, so drink lots of water in the days before the treatment.

It looks that you are doing quite well so far though.

Hi,

I started practicing on myself - so I am an absolutely beginner. But what I don´t understand, why it has to be painful? Usually you can reduce the unit level to a level which is not painful. Well it might take longer, but e.g. for myself I prefer to deal with any single hair for a longer time instead of heaving pain.

So, is it really necessary to have pain? Or is it because of time saving …?

Aloe gel helped me as well, also little bumps appeared straight after treatment and disappeard after an hour or so - but everything without pain.

Greetings,

Sabine

Hi Alicia,

thanx for replying, I was wondering where can I find topical anaesthetics?

You have to get it from your doctor because it’s a prescription. Why not try tylenol first?

I believe the area near the eye is very sensitive.

Ok I’ll take Tylenol and see how it goes; I’ll be calling my electrologist today again and see if she can write me prescription… I just woke up and it’s still sore.

Can I pick up Aloe gel/lotion from Walgreens or other stores w/out prescription?

thanks

It is best to get Aloe from health food stores, because they are more likely to have whole leaf, cold processed products without extra stuff, like dyes.

Lily of the Dessert is a good brand name that seems to be widely available. You want pure aloe gel with nothing else in it. No alcohol, no dyes, no gums, just aloe.

Ok thanks I’ll look into that today. Also I looked in the mirror and I have small pimple type dots (white) on the area that was treated… about 3 on each side, really tiny ones.

Hi Tehjatt:

I am from Canada and we can get Emla at the pharmacy counter of any drug store without a prescription. We just have to say what it is for though.

Maybe someone from the USA can tell you how to get that or similar topicals in the US?

I don’t believe that you should need a prescription unless they made a stronger compound.

Ok I took shower and the white tiny pimples were gone… haha

If you’re not feeling much, you might not be actually killing the hair. There needs to be enough power used to kill the hair. Very low settings won’t kill it.

Today was my second session, it went well. Electrolysis did the treatment in different areas today. Here are some pics I have. Any hair above the white is what I want gone… what do you all think about my Electrolysis doing her job?

Hi Tehjatt:

I think it will take a while to clear the area you want cleared. It will certainly take more than two treatments.

I have had my entire face cleared including my neck.
I have been at it for over two years. You probably will need to go for regular visits for between 6 months and a year. The kill rate on hairs which are treated is not 100% and sometimes some of the same hairs will have to be treated several times. Keep working on the area you want done and eventually it will stay cleared.

Alicia

How about the bumps and redness, will bumps appear everytime I get treated?

The first clearance is the worst it will ever be. The second time through an area will be easier, and may not have that skin reaction.

You may have the same reaction you show here in every place you do a first time treatment on that skin. You may find some places react more than others.

What ever the case, your additional treatments in the same areas should be less irritating.

Today was my third session, she only worked for 15 minutes. Right side needed more work today, left side looks good. It did hurt more on left side, maybe hair were short. Also the treated area goes back to normal with in 2 days.

Yesterday was my 4th treatment, and I went after 2 weeks. Some hair were back, she treated the hair that was back and other area that wasn’t treated yet.
