Hi,
I have been reading this forum for a while now and it has really been helpful and I can see a lot of people have the same problem as I. I’m a 20yo guy and every since high school I have always been held back by the amount of hair I have everywhere. I have low confidence, especially around new people and I just feel like its holds me back from being me. It affects every bit of my life, I hate being the hairy guy and always wanted to do something about it.
I originally thought about laser but thanks to this forum have heard it’s a bit of a risk. Now im thinking of electrolysis but i understand that it’s not very practical in large areas. (Unless you have some of the experts from this forum do it) its also very embarrassing for me to talk to anyone about this and I even the thought of going to get it done makes me nervous. But my cousin is getting married at the end of next year and he has asked me to be his best man. I have kind of marked that as a date to try and get something done about this.
I know it wont be easy about will be costly but I feel the reward of being less self conscious is well worth it. I was thinking of starting to work on my face and later getting my arms chest and back done, if I can find someone who can do it. Also latter maybe get my legs and private parts lasered to thin out the hair. Unfortunately as I worked up enough courage to start asking around I have only managed to find 2 places where I live (Brisbane Australia) one charged 155 per hour the other around 90 but I didn’t really like the look of that place. I wanted to know could anyone recommend any electrolysis’s in Brisbane and advise me if there is anything wrong with my plan of action.
I hope so boy1989 usually with most things the start is the hardest as im finding.
I wanted to get my uppercheeks, eyebrows and my neck done to start off with but the places im finding are beauty saloons and im not sure they would be that great for it.
Having several consultations and sample treatments is a good way to start. Beauty salons can be a bit of a gamble, so I would favor trying electrologists first.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking but because I wanted to start on my face I’m really nervous. Do you know about the regulations on performing electrolysis in Australia and weather you have some sort of qualification? I don’t want a bigger problem than I start off with.
If you can get treatment risk insurance, and pass local council skin penetration guidelines to obtain their license, you can practise. It is mainly regulated by the beauty industry, and is only one part of their beauty training curriculum, not a seperate qualification. However if someone with very basic training works, for a passionate and skilled practitioner, they can end up becoming very competent themselves. Sampling and referrals are the only way to detemine who is good. I recommend having test treatments in discreet areas, (not the middle of your face)and the worst that can happen, is a small area of traumatised skin, unlike laser where one can end up with a much greater amount of induced hair.
Oh ok, thanks for all that information. Yeah that does sound like the best way to go. Also after reading the forums and other stuff online i would never let anyone come near my face with a laser. I only wished there was a reputable electrologist in the area I would have no hesitation in going there. I would even consider travelling out of Brisbane but I think the costs would start getting out of hand.
I think that Brisbane does have some good electrologists, I just have no association with them, or know who they are. I have treated some clients, who have had good treatment there, but not recently.
