i am thinking to start electrolysis on my whole face. side burns, upper lips eye brows, chin and neck, if i go every week for an hour how many treatments would i need in total? and for how many months would i have to go every week before it i have to go every other week or so?
approximate answers would be helpful.
How many bothersome hair follicles do you have, seen and unseen?
If you absolutely desire an approximate answer, it would be this:
After a first, full clearance of all bothersome hairs that can be SEEN at a given time, you are looking at 9-18 months, maybe even 24 months, of consistent treatments to maintain the area after you receive that first, full clearance. You should see improvement after 4-6 months, but you are not finished yet. You begin to feel hopeful by that benchmark, BUT THERE ARE MORE SURPRISES AHEAD WITH THESE PESKY HAIR GROWTH CYCLES. Appointments are more frequent and longer up front, but then the length of time between sessions and the amount of time spent on the table will be shorter as you near the end. This is all dependent on your commitment to regularly spaced appointments, what medications you may be taking, your sensitivity levels toward androgens that are circulating in your blood, your genetics, your stress levels and what you are doing now to control the hair growth. Another biggie, is finding a well-trained licensed or certified electrologist.
How long will it take questions can never be answered accurately because every human being presents with their own hair thumbprint and every electrologist has varying levels of skill and equipment.
Hair is very complicated. Hair is very strong. For these reasons alone, electrolysis needs to be performed correctly and the client needs to be consistently PATIENT for 9-18 months. The good news is, you will start looking much better long before you are truly “finished”. When you are “finished”, you may need to see your electrologist 1-6 times a year for very short treatments to get any new sprouters that decide to come forth. A woman’s face is very hormonal, so be ready for some short maintenance sessions as you get along in years. You may also expect to stay stable as far as new hair growth is concerned! We just don’t know. That is why we call hair mysterious, as well.
thankxx for the helpful answer. so in other words how many treatments will i need in total? and the total approximate cost? would it go over 3000? for the whole face?
How many bothersome hairs can be seen? How many bothersome hairs are there below the skin not ready to surface? How many hairs can the electrologist treat in one hour’s time? How much does the electrologist charge per minute? What modality does the electrologist use? What is your hormonal environment like? How dense is the hair? What are the hair structures like? Have you tweezed or waxed over the years? Are you going through menopause? Are you satisfied with not treating the fine, blond hairs that only you can see in a 12X magnifying mirror?
I thought I answered the time variables in the above post. Cost is dependent on all the afore mentioned. We are not working with sheet metal here where we know how to precisely cut it and price it. With electrolysis we have something called VARIABLES that we must educate consumers about and that is what I am trying to do here.
Electrolysis kills hair - just know that. What we cannot be precise about is answering the “how long” and “how much” questions for individuals because everyone presents with their own hair thumbprint (I said the same thing above). I will say again that it should take 9-18 months with good care and skill, but for severe cases, it could go on for as long as 24 months. The latter months is nit picky stuff and shorter appointments - nothing like what you had from months 1-9. Around my parts of the world, $3,000.00 would get you a lot of electrolysis and thus a lot of satisfaction and happiness. Would you be totally finished? Perhaps you would!
During our consultation we can tell you a lot of facts. We know facts about hair growth causes, skin types, hair cycles, hair shedding, skin reactions and can guess fairly closely to how long of an appointment you will need to start with (after seeing the hair growth up close)…however, it is completely impossible for us to tell you how many times you will have to come in. I’ve had several sets of identical twin sisters with each twin having nearly identical hair growth - and the twin sets didn’t take the same number of treatments to get done.
Every single person’s physiology is different, therefore, every single person’s hair removal will be different. We can estimate the number of months for someone who is dedicated and consistent, but the clearings will vary greatly. One person needs weekly appointments while another can have bi-weekly or monthly appointments. It just depends upon how much hair and what type of hair and why it grows and what you’ve done to remove it in the past…
Does that help you understand why we can’t give a number of treatments? I wish we could…I think we all wish we could!
