Pale skin in treated area

I have had electrolysis treatments done on my neck for beard hair for the past year and I am noticing that there is one area where none of the hair has grown back and it is sandwiched between areas where hair is present. This has made the hairless area look pale and white compared to the surrounding skin and makes it stand out. I am wondering how I can make it blend in better with the rest of my skin and if anyone has any advice to give me I would be very grateful. I dont need to do more electrolysis sessions because I dont get razor burns and bumps anymore but if that is what I have to do to make it look more even then I will consider it. Thanks alot everyone!

Well, at least this is proof that electrolysis works. What I’m picturing for you is a concentrated area that is hairless surrounded by your normal hair pattern. If you want your neck to look uniform and even in color, then you will have to remove more hair until you achieve the look you desire.

Thank you for your reply and I will consider going in for another electrolysis session but im wondering if it is normal for the skin in a hairless area to stand out in color over a month after it has been removed. The skin looks smooth and healthy but I cant figure out why it just suddenly appeared and I began to notice. Since it is just much lighter than the surrounding area I will first try tanning and see how that works.

Can you post a quality picture?

I took a pic using my camera in as much light as possible but all you see is my lower neck with dark stubble all over and a thin line running through the middle with no hair. You cant tell any difference in skin color and I dont think it is very noticeable to people at all. I was just concerned that it might be some sort of hypopigementation damage and why it would show up over a month later. If i still need to post a pic I can but it is exactly like I described.

Okay, well, thanks for trying.

I don’t think I’m understanding why you just singled out a strip of hair in the middle of your neck. Is that the only place you had ingrown hair?

Can you offer more information? If there is no hair on this particular area, in the middle of your neck, then it stands to reason that that area would be lighter in appearance than the left and right sides where hair is growing. I’m confused.

I went through one session where I asked for the hairs on the lower left side of my neck to be removed and my electrologist did that but some of the hairs have grown back except for this thin line which is why it looks much lighter than the rest of the area. I had that area treated because I thought the hair was growing too far down my neck and wanted it removed. I did not have to do this but asked for it to be done to prevent any problems that might arise later.

In your first post, you said that you had electrolysis treatments on your neck for the past year, but above you say that you went through one session on your lower left side of your neck. One session is not enough to affect all the hair you really have because hair grows in cycles, so you must expect multiple sessions to totally eliminate all the hair. Now, the strip that has no hair and is lighter, might that have been treated several times over the past year. What was your schedule like? What modality was used? Thermolysis? Blend? Galvanic? How many treatments did you get? Maybe you will see some hair peek through soon in the strip soon? How long did it take for your skin to heal? What explanation does your electrologist have for you?

Without a quality picture, it is hard to tell you anything. You can try to tan or you can get more hair removed from your neck, so things blend better together.

Your advice is very helpful and I will try tanning and possibly getting more hair removed if I find it becomes too much of a problem. I had hair removed only on the right side of my neck for the past year because of razor burns and bumps but only did one on the left side for the reason I described before. Maybe hairs will grow back and I will not need to get more hair removed.
