I’m about to have my 8th IPL treatment on the upper lip- I have read tonnes of posts on here and know how negative a lot of you will feel about my choice to do that, but I can’t take it back now! An improvement has definitely been made, but after this treatment I’m going to switch to electrolysis. I’m going for consultations at four separate clinics, and would like to ask the professionals on here what questions I should be asking to ensure I choose the right electrologist. I don’t mind the travel/cost/endurance, I just want to make sure I go with the most skilled electrologist and ensure the most effective results.
I’m very nervous about it because people keep telling me different things, so I would really appreciate any advice. The woman doing my IPL is also an electrologist and suggested the process could take up to 3 years and she advises I continue with IPL for a few more months, but I don’t think that is a good idea.
Three years for IPL? I don’t agree. I am not a propnent of IPL for female facial hair anyway. Someday (hopefully), when all professional electrologists have the best tools to match their well-honed skills, clients like yourself will not need any light-based devices for their faces. It can all be handled with proper electrolysis care whether you have 10,000 hairs or 100,000 hairs, red hair or brown hair, white skin or brown skin, thick hair or thin hair. Anyone that gets IPL most likely needs an electrologist after they have spent a wheelbarrow full of money. It can’t do it all and it is risky to get IPL on female facial hair for some? many? women as it may induce more hair to wake up and grow.
The three year comment was for electrolysis, not IPL. She suggested after the 12th treatment, maximum results from the laser would show. I’m nervous about electrolysis because I’m not sure how to know who the best to go to is. I’m based in the UK and our options are limited over here.
Well, the biggest part of success with electrolysis lies with the human being performing the procedure. I know there are good electrologists in the UK. Have you searched through hairtell for some suggestions. Poster, Benji Boy, has some great posts on this and I think Maxine??? did, too.
You really need electrolysis for dark brown hair. Three years mean sound like a long time, but this all relates to how long she will work on you in a session, how often you go in and get cleared of ALL the bothersome hair each session, how fast she can work, how archaic is her equipment, how crazy you get with wanting to remove the hair and so on and so on… Some women start obsessing about hair that no one can see, after the bigger hairs they came in for are gone.
We can’t be all that accurate with these time questions or cost questions, especially when we are trying to help out here on the internet.
I think the problem is that the person is doing the IPL, does not like working the electrolysis.
Have you considered Carmen, which for many professionals is much more comfortable giving a couple of shots of light that your eye wear and back to the electrolysis.
That’s the conclusion you should draw from this disastrous advice she has given to continue with IPL.
If the person is trying to be honest, after 12 sessions of IPL, it would be you who would propose a protocol change. It should be the professional who advised him to change, but it seems you do not want to get rid of the hair because then the business would end.
Maybe that professional does not know the electrolysis work well.
What is certain is that he does not like to work hard to remove you hair. Therefore, my advice is to look for another professional to whom you passionate about your work.
It’s easy to find a good professional, you have only to read the messages written to Dee and James, and think. When you hear someone talking about the electrolysis with such passion, you’ve found the right professional. A greeting
