hi i am new to electrolysis. i have been reading the posts but don’t know what some people mean by “clearance” of electrolysis. can someone help me with this? thanks
Clearance really just means getting rid of all the hair in a certain area. So for clearance of the upper lip, the electrologist will have gotten rid of every hair growing in that area, at that time. (You can’t get rid of hairs that haven’t yet grown!)
thanks emilily for the quick reply!
It just means you have removed all the hairs that are currently showing, resulting in a visually hair-free appearance.
I just feel that I must fine tune this definition just a little bit more, due to personal experience. It means removal of all significant hairs in the treatment area. We define a significant hair as one that is visible to the naked eye from a conversational distance (of four feet) away. Many people have wrongfully concluded that they did not achieve a full clearance, because the practitioner did not remove downy soft, unnoticeable hairs that no one but the client and a 10x’s magnification mirror can see.
In other cases, a full clearance could actually leave noticeable hairs, such as the case when someone wants to remove thick terminal hairs from an area where they find the presence of accelerated vellus hairs to be acceptable. In this case, a full clearance would only be a full clearance of all terminal hairs in the target area, leaving the accelerated vellus hairs alone and visible.
Good points James.
Thank You MPK, and keep up the good work.
If I get to the west coast I may let you remove some of the hairs on my chinny chin chin.
This kind of says what I believe should be included in that definition. Can we tweek MPK’s statement to say:
“…removed all the hairs that are currently showing at one electrolysis treatment, resulting in a visually hair-free appearance.”
From James definitions:
CLEARANCE means the removal of all significant hairs in the treated area during an electrology appointment.
SIGNIFICANT HAIR includes hair that is visible to the naked eye from a conversational distance (of four feet) away.
