About 6 or 7 weeks ago i had electrolysis done on my cheeks. I had gone to a cpe certified electrologist. Just couple of days ago i noticed a scar on my cheek. After having the electrolysis done i thought that my skin remained inflamed for many weeks. So when i first saw the scar couple of days ago i thought that as the skin heals it will go away. How do i know that this is a permanent scar or not? If it is a scar, can i do anything to minimize the scarring?
thanks
Are you and were you using any aftercare? When you say a “scar”, what do you actually mean? What does it look like?
Either way, you should use tea tree oil at night on it.
Please let us know how much is many.
Btw, every inflammation longer than 2 weeks is a sign of overtreatment. The electrologis shoud readjust her parameters.
6-7 weeks is too short a time for a scar to heal, so it cannot be judged if the scar is permanent.

Sorry for not replying back. The process of hair removal has been stressful for me. When i saw the scar it really hurt me and i did not wanted to focus on it and that is the reason why i did not reply to back. But i will really appreciate it if you can help me out here.
I felt like my skin was inflamed for about at least a month. I am not sure because the texture of skin has changed since i got electrolysis. The scar is not a dab. the best way for me to describe it is that it is a discoloration between my cheek.
I did use tee tree oil and vitamin after my treatment for about 2 weeks. But i seriously didn’t notice the scar till about two weeks ago. Maybe i was too focused on the dabs that had appeared on my skin from my first over treatment and didn’t pay attention to the scar that i am referring to now. i will try to post pic as soon as possible.
Any suggestion for now?
thanks
You MIGHT be seeing post-inflammatory-hyperpigmentation (PIH) from over-treatment. This is not a scar, but can be something you will notice for awhile. If it is PIH, it will fade with time. It can occur from many things such as a pimple. Ten years ago, I got pink-eye on my cheek - and I swear that I can still see the spot, but no one else can.
I hope you will be a good consumer and have a talk with the electrologist. Tell the electrologist that after your treatment you had inflammation for at least a month and that it really stressed you out. This will help the electrologist to do some self-evaluation.
my last treatment was in september, can the pih possibly last that long?
well it just happened that the electrologist called me today and asked why i haven’t come down again. I told her that i had scaring and she asked me to come down so she could see it. I will go down to her and let her see it.
Depending on the skin…PIH can remain visible for quite awhile. I’m glad you are going in so your electrologist can see this.
i was just at a naturopathic doctor for a consultation regarding my excessive hair growth recently today and showed her my skin as i was walking out. she said apply vitamin e oil and stay out of the sun when summer rolls around.
It would really suck if this scar is permanent because it hurts my self-esteem and i wanted to continue doing electrolysis. I fear that if i continue doing electrolysis the scar would get worse. Any suggestions on whom i could see that could help me with this.
thanks
