skin numbness after electrolysis?

Hi everyone,

I had my third electrolysis treatment on my chin 6 days ago (I’m a female). There is a spot on my chin that has felt numb ever since. It was swollen, but that has gone down… but I don’t have normal sensation in the skin there. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or signals overtreatment? My next treatment is booked for tomorrow night…

In my opinion, this indicates something wrong with the treatment. If it were me, I would call the electrologist to postpone the appointment and explain what you are experiencing. I believe it is very important to keep open lines of communication - especially when you think something isn’t as it should be.

Many years ago, I had a client who had this happen with another electrologist. It is surprising to me that she was willing to seek treatments elsewhere. Her numbness went away, she did not experience the same reaction when she switched electrologists…and she achieved her HR goal.

Ok. So I forgot to mention, the first 2 sessions (where the swelling went away pretty well) were flash, but the last one (where my skin got numb) was thermocoagulation. It hurt wayyy more. Today for my treatment we went back to flash. Hopefully there won’t be similar problems! Thanks for your advice!
