hi im a new to this site but everyone seems to have alot of good advice on here, ive been having electrolysis on my top lip, chin and stomach for about 5 months, my stomach seems to be doing really well but am worried about my face as the hair growth seems to be worse than when i started out is this normal or could there be a chance that electrolysis isnt going to work on my face? has anybody else had this problem, i really dont want to give up if theres still a chance it will work as having a hair problem makes me so depressed!
Can you offer specifics about your electrolysis experience? If one thing is not being done correctly it will throw off the time to completion.
Were you a tweezer or waxer prior to electrolysis? Have you TOTALLY ceased pulling the hair out? Modality being used? Machine? Size of probe? Medications you are taking? How often are you going and are you getting full clearance each time you go? No detail you choose to tell about is too small. Electrolysis works. You need at minimum, 9-12 months to understand this and see that you haven’t wasted your time. You may just be going through those pesky hair growth cycles. Be patient, but do describe in better detail what your experinece has been like. Something may need to be corrected to move this along better, but on the other hand, you haven’t been in to this long enough, so it is hard to hazard a guess as to what is going wrong (or right) with your treatments?

yeah i used to be tweezer prior to electrolysis but only on the top lip which i have managed to leave alone all the time ive been having electrolysis (that really has been hard but i know now that i never should of done it in the first place), the hair on my chin and stomach havnt been messed with! im not sure what machine it is but i know its an old style one, the lady seems to be doing it right in the fact that i dont feel the hair being pulled out, and i get cleared each week!
all my hair is fine but it bothers me because its long and brown in colour!
i hope ive answered all your questions, and thank you so much for taking the time to read my post
sorry i forgot to say im on no medication for it, ive had a hormone test and my doctor said all levels were normal, he also said i was stressing over nothing but hey i guess thats easy to say when it isnt your body!
the lady that does my electrolysis told me that fine hair should be killed alot easier and faster than coarse hair, do you find this is the case?
fine hairs are able to be treated with lower power levels, but they pose their own challenges. Being able to see well enough to do a proper insertion is one problem, getting a setting that removes the hairs without overtreating the skin is another. Finally, there does come a point where one has cleared any hairs that any person would take notice of from a conversational distance away, and yet your client is still looking in a 15X magnification mirror and obsessing over hair that no one else takes note of.
thanks for the reply james, i understand that my hair isnt as coarse as alot of people that may have electrolysis but they are brown and noticable because they are long, i just thought that after 5 months i would see a big improvement in the amount of hair? the lady that treats me said that she can remove them easily and that because they are fine they should die off quicker?
If you are not getting full clearances every time you go in, then you should increase your appointment time to allow you to get full clearances. That way, you will have the look of being finished, while also getting finished faster.
I strongly second that clearance recommendation. Listen carefully to that graceO. It is a very important concept that is worth more time on the table. Five months means you are only a little less than half way there. Hair growth cycles are the most frustrating part of electrolysis or laser treatments. If your lady is performing well, then you have nothing to worry about except being patient.

thank you so much for answering my question, i feel so much better about the whole thing, think i was expecting to much to soon, im going to get longer appointments now and stick with it!
thanks again for your kind words i’ll let you know how its going in a few more months!
It is hard to understand hair growth and the time it can take for every offensive hair to come to the skin’s surface at least ONE time in a period of 9-12 months. Throw in regrowth that inevitably happens when a hair is treated in the non-growing stage, and it is understandable why clients begin to question if this is working. It takes time even with the best electrologist at the helm.
Come back if you need more support.
