Anyone beat that record?!
I have had regular (now weekly) professional electrolysis sessions for 29 years and although it’s only focussed on upper lip and chin, hair continues to defy treatment. Therapists have also tried Microlysis and Blend but can not explain why they don’t work. At first I only had longer fine hairs and now I have several really coarse ones. Also hair is appearing in completely new areas such as under the jaw. My doctor and gynocologist can’t offer a solution.
I consulted a laser specialist recently who refused to treat me saying that blond/reddish hair was untreatable. And yet each laser advert claims success with any hair colour?! Anyone heard of Biomedlase?
My concern is what could be the long term problems from such a lengthy treatment period? If there continues to be no improvement, should I simply tweeze and would that encourage stronger or additional hair? If I try depilitory creams for a short while how would that effect the electrolysis? And finally…this is 2002…when is medicalscience going to find a solution to this problems?!
Thanks
Eventually, there will be better methods of hair removal. There is tot much money in it for them not to. Photodynamic therapy PDT shows a lot of promise for all hair colors but it is a few years away. Details can be found on hairfacts.com.
Hang in there!
Have you been with the same electrologist???
hair stop, that’s quite a bit. If you are female, you might consider getting a hormone workup done. It’s possible that you have glucose intolerance, PCOS, or some other condition causing your unwanted hair, especially if you have excess weight. Many with such problems respond much better to hair removal once their levels are under control with medication.

Microlysis is a scam, so if you were working with the same person for 29 years, I would figure they did not do good electrolysis on you either. I have worked on people who had very bad PCOS and gotten them under control in 9 months or less and they found it manageable even if they did not conquer the PCOS. The worst we did was pick up treatments every 3 to 6 months for a short time like 15 to 30 minutes, 2 to 4 times a year thereafter.
