Update after 4 months

Hi, since I’ve appreciated the updates that many people have provided, thought I’d share mine as well.

I started going in mid-November to remove a lot of coarse, dark hairs on my chin and neck that I had been plucking for about 10 years. i was incredibly self-conscious of it… hated being in direct sunlight, shaved, bleached, waxed etc… finally decided i had to get rid of it permanently. I wasn’t working at the time so was able to go in as soon as I saw hairs appear. My hair grows quite quickly so for the first 2 1/2 months I went in maybe once or twice a week for 1/2 hour to an hour. (I did go out of town for 3 weeks, shaved a little, and eventually had to pluck the last week.)

Since mid-January, I’ve continued weekly appointments from 15 min - 45 minutes depending on how my face is looking, my electrologist’s schedule, etc.

The negatives have been: it’s cost me quite a bit of money since I’ve been going so frequently. My face does get dry and scabby 2 days afterward which lasts for a few days. For a while in the beginning I felt like either I was hairy or scabby and had no days where I looked completely fine. In addition, I was developing ingrown hairs which had to be dug out and as you can imagine, those looked awful. (not sure if ingrowns were finer hairs growing back in or what’s going on but I would rarely get them before even when i was plucking.)

But…the positives… i have almost NO dark coarse hairs on my chin any longer which is unbelievable since every morning for 10 years i spent at least 3 - 5 minutes on my chin alone. my neck is still not 100% perfect but it’s MUCH better. i still get ingrown hairs but much fewer. i’m still going in weekly to get the few dark stragglers that appear but i’m spending the majority of my appointment on the longer, thinner, dark(ish) hairs on my neck. there’s still a lot to go in this area but since i never plucked these, i’m hoping removing these will be easier. because we’re using a lower setting on the thinner ones, i don’t get the scabs/redness i did in the beginning.

i’ve been obsessed about going at least once a week if not more and again, spent quite a lot of money, but believe me it’s been worth it. i’m really looking forward to seeing how it’s going at 9 months. so far so good in month 4.

Thank-you Bethany. I’m thinking you will be feeling better before nine months. It seems that if you and your electrologist are doing things correctly, any hair you have left after 6 months will be nit-picking scattered hair that needs clean up sessions that don’t last very long and thus, don’t leave your skin as irritated.

Thanks for taking your valubale time to update us and we’re pulling for your success. Hold on and be sure to give your electrologist a pat on the back or even better, a big hug.

Dee
