wanting my thick beard thinned out

Well, I think the only way to estimate is to have him estimate for us how many individual hairs he has to treat. I can ballpark 30 hours, but that’s not based on anything. But 30 hours can be split up into a month of treatments, i.e. 2 hours every other day or 3 hours every 3 days.

Well from my experience… and others who have been to this electrologist, whilst she is very good, after an hr of treatment it starts to get to you; you will feel every bit of current.

ive probably got over 100000 hairs on my beard .but thats a guess ,i sent james lots of clear pics mabe he could gestimate.and he can show them on here too as long as my face is blocked out

Trust me, you don’t have 100,000 hairs on your beard. Based on the pics I saw, you are closer to the +/=50,000 range, maybe less, for all the hair you ever grow on your beard each year. One clearance for you might be +/-10,000 hairs. This is something that I have frequently done in the space of 3 days or less, depending on how much sight seeing the client does. (Come on, isn’t Niagara Falls on most people’s want to visit once before I die list?)

stoppit: The current gets more painful for you after an hour? Is that all types of current, or just one type in particular? I only ask because I notice the opposite. At first I might feel it a little here and there, but after about 30-60 minutes, my skin is totally immune to the sensation. At that point, my brain is like, so sick of dealing with these little prickles that it just stops registering the pain (this is actually a physiological process that is beneficial to the body, which is why I just assumed it is the same for everyone, but now I realize I am probably unique).

I read that a lot of electrologists are sneaky and they up the energy as the treatment goes along. They don’t tell the client because then the client will expect the pain (and therefore notice it more), so they just gradually increase it. Could this be something your tech is doing?

live1,

Personally, I think you should take a trip to the states.

Let me lay out my reasons why.

Point 1:
James is a specialist in MALE BEARD REMOVAL and is very good at removing a large number of hairs.

Point 2:
You have a direct testimonial from a MALE on the forum(me) who has gotten thick beard removal treatment from him and couldn’t be happier.

Point 3:
You also have his reputation and clear pictures on his site that show numerous successful clients without any skin damage what so ever.

Let me be honest, i’m glad I scared you with my last post. If there is one thing i’m trying to accomplish by posting on this forum, it’s to try and prevent people from getting permanent skin damage.

I’m NOT saying this woman you’re going to is going to cause skin damage. That’s not what i’m saying at all.

Just please think about how important this is. This is permanent, for the rest of your life. Is your job that important? Is money that important?

james im stil going to see sharon tue.may even show her this thread.but its looking like im going on my first trip out of england.3 days is great for my face.vs over 1 month for 1 clearance.please show me pics .and would my dark shadow be reduced to have a nice clean shave.oh and pm me your cost please

Hi Kitty - I work on different areas within that hour. It’s not usually painful but rather, uncomfortable. But towards the end of that hour I’m wishing it to be over and it starts “getting” to you.

I don’t think my electrologist starts to up settings, she usually tells me what she’s doing.

My sister noted the same, her first session was shorter and she was absolutely fine with it but for the longer ones (even though she almost falls asleep), she said it’s more difficult to ignore the sensation.

Heard the same from a few other people too.

I noticed that you are are using Apilus’ for your professional electrolysis. This is what I was trying to say before, that whilst this electrologist is very good, she’s using a very unsophisticated machine that doesn’t purport to give a comfortable client experience.

At Before and After: Executive Clearance Electrolysis V. Covington had more hair than you, and it was thicker, and I will guess deeper and more distorted than your hair. The reduction shown there certainly gets you down from dark shadow. On the same page, J. Lamb’s 10,000 hairs in 13 hours gives a good idea of how your actual treatment might go.

I will look for the thread on hairtell here where a client posted pictures showing the steady reduction over time of a full beard clearance, and you can see the difference each clearance made. That is, if I have time to find that. I really am rocked with work and have VERY little time to do much else these days.

stoppit: That kind of sucks. It must be hard to make progress that way :frowning: For the record, I use an old instantron machine just as often as apilus. That is definitely not a top-of-the-line machine. :stuck_out_tongue: I think I’m just a tough cookie. I will say this though: Appointments that exceed an hour sure make my butt sore from sitting/laying! Sitting still is the worst part for me. Hehe…

I found Ellen G’s post reguarding our first clearance. A picture was posted that showed the boarder line between the mask area of the face where we cleared, and the area below the jawline where we did not clear. The picture shows two days worth of facial hair growth since the last shave.

Does this help answer some of your questions?

from the v covington pic looks like he couldnt grow a beard.anymore looks very sparce on jawline and bald on neck.but hair in side burn area.and thats my worry.i dont want patches of bare skin.as if i dont shave for being lazy i want it even.i dont think v covington could grow that out and look even

Keep in mind, Most people actually want to get bare faced when they see me. The point is that we can reduce, and have it not look patchy. If I can find the progress pic thread on here from the client who is pictured on my Contact page here on Hairtell, you will see how the progression goes for thinning a thick beard. It was like regressing from an overgrowing beard, to a normal one, to one that was similar to a teenager, and then down to nothing.

your work look great .but this dude looks like after his clearance he would never be able to grow a beard euer again.his face is virtualy bald.i only want slight reduction.i would love to see a pic of how his beard looks after a week grown out.thanks again james u have been very helpful to me.ps i zoomed in and it looks like 1 hair then 1cm gap next hair.im sure if he didnt shave for a week it would look unnatural.sorry if im wrong.i just need to be sure going the ful clearance route is the way for me.and not just choosing indiuidual hairs to target

Hi:

I think the individual pictured was working towards being completely hair free, but hasn’t had that applied to all of their face yet. If someone wasn’t working towards being completely hair free then a single complete clearing would give them a better indication of what kind of reduction they will achieve once they let things grow in as it will. If that isn’t enough them they could do another complete clearing and again wait.

By doing it that way then they should have a fairly even regrowth. I think one would have to wait a number of months to see the full extent of any regrowth, plus hairs that may have been dormant during the treatment to come back.

Alicia

would love to see the progress pic.i like wot u say about overrgrown beard to normal me being overgrown then to teenage beard.see i think normall or teenage beard would look good for me .im just being carefull .like fire said it for life

I can’t find the thread that I wanted to show you, but these pictures show some progress.

The first picture shows how much shadow was showing even with a painfully close shave. The second pic shows full beard growth minus the ball of the chin patch test. The next pic is just after clearance of the face, and partial neck, followed by how much difference there was between the treated and untreated areas after one clearance. Notice how although the hair is reduced, this person could have maintained a beard that would have gotten no attention for being strange, had we just done the rest of the neck so that it was all even.

Hi James:

I’ve seen this person’s before and after photos before. I know they were going for full and permanent clearance as their ultimate goal.

How many hours did they need in total for first clearance and then in total to the point of complete clearance?

Thanks, Alicia

The first clearance was about 25 hours due to some challenges in number of hairs (you can see the dark ones in the picture, but the clear and blond ones don’t show as well in the picture) and the angles of some areas (there was a swirling pattern in some of the growth leaving no way to shave with the grain).

I only remember that in total we did the full face, neck, and all body work in under 250 hours. I could not tell you what just the face alone took on this one. Amber D, who is pictured on my before and after page with the black and white pic as the before, was done in 100 hours even. (How strange was that? It worked out to exactly 100 hours)

Hi James:

250 hours including the body is pretty good. I’m in agreement with 100 hours being the exception to the rule. I can see the above subject being a challenge.

You can see the difference in regrowth after one clearance pretty clearly though.
