I left a message today with an electrologist to schedule a consultation. What questions should I be asking? Also, what prices are considered normal? I need electrolysis on most of my body. Is this possible or do most electrologists only do a certain amount on someone’s body? If I didn’t need so many areas done I’d have had electrolysis by now, but having most of my body done is going to take such a long time. I’m in the middle of laser hair removal treatments. It’s not been too effective. I was thinking of having the tech try different settings and still finish my treatments on areas like my lower legs and brazilian/bikini area and trying electrolysis on the rest.
Prices depend on the area. Electrolysis is much more common and thus competitive in some parts of America than Australia, for instance. Per hour my electrologist would be charging something like $300 AUD, to an American eletrologsts $70-150 USD, etc.
Better qualified electrologists will be willing to do electrology on most areas on an individuals body, and many will be more likely to do it for a woman than a man. It’d be something that you’d have to work out on a case by case basis.
Usualy we recommend going to sample treatments from as many electrologists as you possibly can before you settle with one. If you’re in America or England or somewhere else where electrology has a professional regulating body, try to go with people who have these qualifications (though that isn’t always a guarantee of quality).
Depending on the area, you’d probably want thermolysis or blend. If they do galvanic I wouldn’t bother, as it’d be a very long process - galvanic methods are the slowest and for the amount of hair you probably want removed, would take way too long.
Another thing is machines like Apilus or Sterex have fairly good reviews and could be another factor in what you want.
As for questions, ask the electrologist how much scabbing or scarring they think is acceptable, and if they change their techniques and methods to accomodate more delicate skin, or simply use the same approach to every case. You want someone willing to listen to your needs.
Goodluck.
