Working Towards Reduction

Okay… so I don’t really mind if I am not toally hairless, as long as whatever is left can hardly be seen.

So… for example I have a lot of hairs on my upper lip but they are not coarse, just many fine hairs altogether - loads of them.

I want to work in a way where people don’t realise I am removing hair from upper lip, eyebrows, and other areas on the face where people will notice. I mean, I’ve never done it before so if i go for a full clearance first time, it will be so obvious. I know this may sound silly to some of you but I do have confidence issues.

Anyway, so how long should I book for an appointment for what I want?

Thanks.

If you don’t want full clearance and this is your first treatment, I would suggest 30 min to an hour max. For upper lip a clearance usually can take up to 2 hours, so I’m sure she/her will make a dent in that area.

I did full clearance on my face (full face), and ya people might notice, but I don’t care, because regardless if they notice now or when I’m done, it will still be like I got work done.
So who cares about what people notice, you’re doing this for you, so get it done as fast as possible, because maintenance will be so much easier, and less time consuming.
I wanna clear other areas too so it will be a walk in the park to upkeep it.
Have you found a good electrologist that you’re comfortable with?

Depend on the the epilator, visual aid and stamina of the electrologist you are seeing. I have worked on fuzzy upper lip hair for up to a hour as long as the client understands that she will be a little swollen for 1-3 days. I never would have attempted that kind of boldness on an upper lip with the older equipment and modality I depended on years ago. A good set up helps tremendously. Most of my fuzzy lip appointments are no more than 30 minutes and all heals well. Insertions are close to 300 per half hour using PicoFlash thermolysis. Middle upper lip and lip line work means more sensation for the client. The middle upper lip has a ton of small hairs, so that areas goes slower for that reason as well as sensation reasons.

Assuming that the electrologist you see does not have the best set up for longer appointments, only book 15 or 20 minute appointments. Use witch hazel and cold aloe vera gel to soothe the area immediately afterwards.

I have a history of confidence issues so it will be tad harder for me to do that, maybe later down the line but it’s really hard for others to understand.

I have found a good electrologist, Sharon (the one stoppit goes to) and she seems the best so far so I’m good with her.

Just gotta book the appointments but I feel I need to talk to her about what areas I should prioritise, is it okay to book a session for this for free (just talking) coz I have already had a consultation with her?

Yikes so I will have a reaction if I even get reduction done coz there are so many hairs on the upper lip?

I’m not sure if you remember what set up stoppit has posted but it’s the electrologist at Parkside.

She only has blend and diarthermy, I don’t know if the aim to get Apilus ever went forward but I’m not going to anyone different so I have no idea what to take from it [experts, help please lol].

I called Parkside and explained my situation so she said she will book another consultation for me for free. They are really kind, the lady who picked up was totally sympathetic. 5* to them.

Anyway, that means for free treated hairs?

What should I go for? : p

It may be that the first visit is only for information. Some professionals also charge for giving information to the client.

Other professionals included in the informative tour, try a few hairs if the client has never tasted the Electrolysis. or if she’s tried with very painful old machines.

I gather that until now you have never had any electolysis treatment at all. In this case ,it is best to start with a short treatment and be guided by your operater, and what she thinks is best for your skin, with whatever equipment she uses. On a lip we usually do some on each side ,during a session ,to keep it balanced. By scheduling shortish appointments regularly, you can constantly re evaluate what level of clearance you are comfortable with.

Question:

I’m thinking buying a discounted package is best off as it saves money but…

How many hours am I looking at (say within the next 2-3 months) for upperlip, eyebrows, and other parts of face (occasional hairs)?

Nobody can tell you that with 100% accuracy, but probably enough to justify a package. You’d be surprised many hours even small areas can take if the hair is dense, and upper lip hair is often dense. Any left over time can be used on other areas once you’re ready to start those. Why not ask your electrologist what her estimate is and go from there?

Since you are doing the upper lip, eyebrows and other hairs, I would say that you can rest assured that you will need at least 10 hours over the next 3 to 6 months. I would find out what her packages are, and buy the best value package you can. The only thing that would not be a lock would be any 100 hour package she may have, as you would not use that up without adding areas like underarms, or legs.

Ten hours, this is what it says on the website:

Five minutes £10 One hour treatment £74
Ten minutes £15.50 Ninety minute course of treatment £99.90
Fifteen minutes £18.50 Three hour course of treatment £199.80
Twenty minutes £25.50 Six hour course of treatment £359.65
Thirty minutes £37 Nine hour course of treatment £499.50
Forty Five minutes £56

That means I should get the 9 hour as that will give me the cheapest discount.
