Electrolysis

session 32 of 45 mins. Thermolysis on cheeks only and blend on neck area. going next week again for belly area as didnt have time today. night people

Do hairs really need a whole year to come back if undertreated? I had an electrologist tell me that the coarse hairs I had were ones she had treated about 6 weeks before.

Depends on the area and growth rates. A year is on the longer side, but 6 weeks is pretty short. In my experience, when I remove hair, the 6 week growth is always new growth, not old hairs. This is true for plucking the hairs in most cases, so I assume it’s true for electrolysis as well.

However, I’ve had some of the hairs on my face grow back in less than 6 weeks (clearly the same hair), so it’s possible.

It looks like you’ll hit the 1 year mark for your stomach area in a few months - how has the progress in that area been compared to the other parts you’ve had done?

Magical, can I ask you a question?

Those hairs that you mention it, had long in your face? or you’d shaved the past? If so, what system you used? them outside? or, just what appears on the surface?

Thanks dear.

Josefa, I’m really sorry, but I am confused by some of your questions. :frowning: Can you translate them again?

I don’t have many noticeable hairs on my face (mostly just fuzz), and I do not shave them or pluck them. But I had one or two single hairs on my chin that were dark and grew from two small freckles. I used to pluck this hair, and it would grow back within a couple of weeks.

My electrolysis did a very strong treatment on it 2 months ago at my request and it never grew back.

Magical, OK.

Your reply has amply satisfied my curiosity. Thank you very much.

session 33 - one hour. about 45 minutes spent on face including sides of face, upper lip, chin and neck area all done with blend method. I asked for blend just to see how treatment goes and if I get any better results. She then spent about 15 mins on my belly area but with Thermolysis as its quicker. Going back next week to do more on belly.

Leo1 I have a question for you,

You started electrolysis and have been going for a while…do you do weekly treatments of 1 hour? and have you been noticing an improvement?
The reason I ask is because I started electrolysis on face and have done about 15 hrs so far, and have seen a difference, but am wondering how long this will really take me lol
I’m hoping results last and are good.

It’s different for everyone is the best answer - but I think like you - HOW LONG? for the first four months I was going every week, then it filtered to every two and so on. Then I was going every three to four, but I usually found by week three I was ready to go back. Now I am going back every two just to keep on top really. Plus the hairs on my neck seem to get worse. Not sure if this is hormonal. But the last two sessions have been blend method and I will stick with blend for a while to see the difference it makes - so therefore the treatment in that hour is taking less hair. In answer to your question yes I have defo seen an improvment especially on lip and sides of face but not on my neck. hope this helps.

If you feel its hormonal then maybe get checked out and go on some meds because you may continually get new hairs coming through and be having treatment for longer.

last wednesday had electrolysis on belly area - half an hour session with a different therapist. Me an my usual woman struggling to get appointments due to my work commitments and her new working hours. Anyway new lady seems good at her job. not sure what machine it was - but diathermi was used which I think is same as thermolysis? I liked the fact that she felt some pull on the hairs and turned the machine up a bit more. Will go to her again.

Diatermy and Thermolysis are the same thing. Like on cars where some say boot, while others say trunk, and some say bonnet, while others say hood.

thanks James - I thought they were but werent sure!!! What did you think of my photos? You never did post them on here - not a problem though, Im sure you have better things to do with your time!! question for you - the new therapist I went to last week tried to push into thinking that using electrolysis on the darker hairs and using waxing in the same area on the finer hairs is ok and wouldnt encourage the darker hairs to come through - any comments on that?
thanks

HI
Can anyone comment/advise on this? If I electrolysis the darker hairs and wax the finer hairs would that encourage the darker hairs to keep growing - I went to a new therapist last week and she really tried to advise me that waxing the finer hairs wouldnt cause excess hair to re-grow. could just wax on the upper lip in the centre only. just dont want to start waxing if it stimulates extra hair growth. thanks

Yes, waxing can stimulate growth over time, but it varies per person on how quickly and by how much or if at all. I don’t understand your question through. Why not tackle those fine hairs with electrolysis and kill them for good if you’re already doing other areas?

hi lagirl thanks for yr response - I think its just laziness from the therapists over here in UK to get every finer hair. The finer hair is dark and visible in strong light only - plus it really hurts on middle of upper lip, so was just looking for an easy way out. Will push them to do more electrolysis in that area. thanks

I’ve been worrying about this too lately.I’ve passed the one year mark and I’m still going for an hour 3 times a month and my electrologist still leaves a bunch of hairs on my face every time. I’ve always had only blend. Money is really tight for me and I wish I could reduce my visits but I want to remove all the dark hairs from my face and I usually spend around 15 minutes of the appointments on other areas. I still have a few dark coarse hairs, too. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to afford treatments.

Based on your pictures, the hairs you are looking to treat are the kind that are difficult to see the follicle opening with a circle lamp, and would still require some finesse to treat even with good magnification and lighting. A poor insertion on inappropriate treatment energy on this would be a bad situation, although your skin would usually heal up ok in the end.

Electrolysis providers are in a bind when they get to a place where they are being asked to work on hairs that are not noticeable to the average person when standing 4 feet away. To do it would be a difficult task, with a result that almost no one would notice. On the other hand, the person who should notice is the one who is paying you.

leo this is the same type of hair I had on my face and am still treating ! the best thing you can do is just focus on one area and get that area cleared before moving on to another area.I’ve been going every week for 45 minutes since last summer, and I think I will be done by end of this year. upper lip was the last area I added last December. I know its hard and you want to add more areas but its not wise and you’ll end up not getting results if you just scatter around.
