After searching and searching for an electrologist in the area, I finally found one! Her name is Louise Devin and she’s actually stationed in my town of Norwood. She has a picoflash Apilus machine which I truly love. I have had two appointments with her, both an hour long and are divided into the following.
10 minutes on upper lip
50 on front torso
My only question is this one. She does not want to remove every hair from the body, is this still going to lead to a full clearence eventually? Do you guys remove every hair or just thin it out?
Well, you’re the customer. So you can decide what you want and tell her that. She can make suggestions, but it’s not really up to her.
I do have to say that most electrologists are correct in trying to leave some hair for the natural look. Completely bare is really not natural on anyone when it comes to body hair. Some fine vellus hairs are fine. But of course, most customers with hair issues don’t think that way. I wanted everything on my abdomen gone, but once we started working on it, I realized that some needed to be left to blend in with the rest of the area. Granted nothing that’s left is very obvious, but there is some there that blends in with the other vellus hairs near that area.
Just make sure to take your progress pictures, so you can see an objective view of how things are progressing. Most people just don’t remember what they started out with, even 3 months into the process.
Ditto. I know it’s hard to do it right now, but TAKE A PICTURE before you start. We all regret not doing it now. Plus, it helps you realize how much is actually removed down the line when you refuse to remember it!
I’ll have to take a picture asap, I’ve only had 2 treatments so there isn’t really any noticable change at the moment. I believe she removes at least 100 hairs with her picoflash. That is a normal amount, no?
One hundred hairs/insertions per hair would describe a competent galvanic only electrologist. One hundred hairs an hour doesn’t even come close to a slow Picoflasher.
PicoFlash thermolysis would be more like 500-1,000+++ insertions per hour. How do you know the hair count number to be 100? Are you sure she is using PicoFlash?
It is very possible to do only 100 hairs per hour, even when using PicoFlash, IF the practitioner is refusing to use the auto-sensor, and is too timid to set the settings so that they do the job with one zap, and are therefore tapping the foot pedal 2 or 3 times per hair (which would also inflate the number printed on the insertion/treatment counter) and if one is using the treat, test, treat, test, treat, remove, go to the next hair technique.
I think that’s what my electrologist is doing. She is using her Apilus machine but it is still a very long process, and based on the scabs that I get I would say she is removing 100 hair in an hour of treatment. she zaps some hairs couple times. I’m going to visit couple other practitioners in my area.
She does use the step peddle, I guess that is why it’s slow. I really don’t know if there are any electrologists around that are fast though…she worked on another client who did a full front torso and it took about three years. Is that normal?
There are a lot of ways to do this slowly…but one way to empathize with the client and their situation.Until the price is not regulated by the number of hairs removed, not by time, nothing will change.
Probably not, though it depends on the client as well as the practitioner. If the person having their torso treated kept on schedule and had a full clearance at each and every treatment, no it is not normal.
I counted 82 hairs on upper lip in 10 minutes
I lost count of how many hairs removed on my stomach but it’s at least a couple hundred, maybe more. I am pretty sure I had some major error in my estimations. I should also note that I made the idiotic mistake in the machine. She has a MICROFLASH, no a pico. That was error on my part. The machine is an Apilus Senior. She said that it took another client doing their torso about 3 years to get it done. Hair and skin type was very similar to mine.
I am all ears for new information. I am in fact going into electrology
It shouldn’t take 3 years if you go in often enough at the beginning. It should take about 12 months after your first clearance as long as you go in every time new hair pops up and get it all each time. Timing often depends on the client and their commitment.
