Is it ok to use thermolysis for coarse hair on the bikini area or should I go with blend?? I read somewhere that thermolysis isn’t as effective as blend on coarse hair such as those on the bikini area! It’s regular thermolysis, not flash.
Thermolysis is very effective on the bikini area, including well done flash thermolysis. The high tech flash thermolysis methods as well as the high tech manual high tech thermolysis methods are deadly to coarse hair. What you heard or read is outdated. If your electrologist is skilled and can do accurate insertions and she/he can use the correct energy levels, you will be in good hands with thermolysis.
Ok, thank you. I had thermolysis done in that area yesterday, now it’s very red. I think my electrologist is skilled, I never felt like she was plucking hair, they would just slide.
How many times should one hair be treated so that the root can be destroyed forever? Ballpark.
Once, maybe twice for an individual hair.
The redness should go away within hours - but tight clothes might contribute to some longer lasting irritation. That’s good that you didn’t feel plucking.
Since you ask how many times one hair should be treated, I’m going to jump in with that “constant consultation” and remind you that it takes a series of treatments because not all of your hairs are growing at any given time…not this week, not this month, and possibly not this year. So you must patiently wait for other hairs to grow. As you progress, you will see more and more space between the growing hairs.
How will I know if thermolysis is woriking? How soon should I see some results?
Regrowth will appear after approx 12 weeks. You will still have untreated growth emerging as well, but at this point you will notice that any regrowth will be very fine, and very straight looking. I suggest having some sample treatments from as many operaters as possible, before deciding who to proceed with. It will allow you to evaluate skill and efficiency levels. Be wary if you feel any tweezing.
Ok, I never felt tweezing. Now I worry about scars because I read it can take months for them to show! What can I do to prevent them? Should I take some steroid ointment, or something for scars?
OH GOSH NO! There will be no scars. You may have temporary normal skin reaction downtime that lasts no more than three weeks. What does the area look like now?
My colleagues are right, Electrolysis (if well done) not only do not leave marks, but it will help close old scars from ingrown hairs due to boils caused by the pulling of the hair with temporary hair removal systems. This is clear proof of this extraordinary phenomenon that almost no one speaks, and that to me is so important:

15 MONTHS LATER:

15 MONTHS LATER:
The pores were dilated because since they had to grow a thick hair. Electrolysis has eliminated the “sack” in charge of producing hair, ie the follicle, and the pores are closed forever, giving the skin a soft and smooth as silk.
I went three times, on Wednesday (45 minutes), Friday (38) and Saturday(62). After the first time, I put this ointment http://www.flogocid.com/what_is_flogocid.html, but still got whiteheads. On Friday I bought Gentamicin ointment and it’s better now. Scabs are forming on the part that was treated on Wednesday, the redness is subsiding, and it doesn’t look bad. I should go once more for 30 minutes to get full clearance.
Okay. So, you are healing well. Why the ointments? The first one has decent ingredients. Soap and water and loose clothing would have been okay, too.
Did your electrologist recommend these products?
She recommended some balm for burns, but I read that using antibiotic can prevent scabs so I bought Gentamicin. Flogocid is great for many things, it produces non-specific immune response and the skin heals nice, it even has some cooling effect, but with Gentamicin I don’t even have whiteheads, it’s red and there are some raised bumps.
I had thermolysis on 24th Semptember and the scabs have fallen off completely by now but there is redness left, new skin I suppose. Will it go away, should I buy something for scars and is Contractubex gel effective? Thanks.
Complete healing, can take up to three weeks, and depends on skill, epilater and needle choice. The discoloration will fully disappear with or without, application of any further skin preparations.
I agree with Christine.
It’s been almost three months since my bikini thermolysis (first clearance) and almost all hairs have grown again. Is this normal???
Read this and come back here and tell me what you think is the answer to your question:

I will wait here with my red ink pen for your reply.
My recommendations are different from others, obviously. You should have monthly clearings of the area. The hair that shows up after a clearing is not (should not be) the hairs that were previously treated. So “almost all hairs have grown again” would be inaccurate - because these hairs are “other” hairs. Other Hairs that are cycling in as they do. They should be treated as they cycle in so that you start seeing space between the hairs as your treatments progress. After care for this area: Vaseline Constant Care Moisture Barrier Salve. This product protects your treated skin.
At first I thought all the hair had come back too, then realized that density compared to untreated areas was definitely lighter. This was confirmed by a second clearance which was faster than the first.
