My Electrolysis Journey

Oh yeah, Peace, you are experiencing the welfare provided by Electrolysis. I am so happy for you!!
Do you mind if I upload a picture in your thread?. This is the upper lip of a 14 year old girl. She has had one session of 30 minutes in April 2010. The picture was taken today.

Note: I have the authorization of the father.

I don’t mind. I can’t see it though.

Me and my sister both have hour long appointments with no problem. Sharon even has to switch around for me, from Blend on the face to Diathermy on the underarms, I haven’t noticed any decrease in speed. If anyone starts getting tired, it’s me!

I think when I had a 45 minute appointment which was near the beginning, something seemed wrong. She does seem all for it now though, but a few months have passed since then. Maybe she felt I didn’t need a needle in my nose or chin, or that I should concentrate on eyebrows and upper lip then later on move on.

I think I’ve lost the way somewhere.

The chin is one of the areas that must be eliminated first. It is a practical question. Much smaller follicles are removed, less area will be damaged.

Stoppit, maybe you can ask to go up a little power? Thus, she would go faster.

Hi depilacionelectr - I think there has been a misunderstanding? She works fast enough the whole hour for me and at high enough currents as I can bear that won’t damage my skin.

peace - I remember you didn’t want longer appointments in the beginning at all yourself. I find it a bit odd that now it’s because she couldn’t do more.
Anyway, she’s quite in tune with the client. Maybe she could tell you weren’t dealing with it very well and were becoming uncomfortable/restless. From your posts, it seems you can tolerate longer sessions now.

Okay I need your help BIG TIME.

I had a 30 minute appoitment today instead of 45 because of an incident on my road (but we’ll be making it 45 minutes next week). They’re really good with that. I couldn’t get through to them so when I went there I asked if there was more time later on in the day but there wasn’t (or I would have lost 15 minutes of my appointment) but they didn’t deduct that time because I was trying to call and their phone wasn’t hooked on at the back.

Anyway, I went to a department store to try on some makeup to cover my acne marks which have been bugging me. Online I saw some video tutorials and there was a girl who used Urban Decay foundation and it seemed to have worked marvelously and it didn’t even look like she had makeup on and it seemed to be the same colour (but videos can be deceiving).

So I popped in store and went to the Urban Decay (makeup brand) stand and I a very kind person helped me out. She put on the foundation and first she used Nirvana, but that seemed to be too light although on my hand it matched well, so she went for Dream. I looked in the mirror and although it did a fantastic job in covering up my scars, I didn’t like it. It looked like powdery foundation and the colour was not my skin colour, it was darker or moreso a different type like mustardy. So the colour and the powdery look was awful for my liking.

I asked her if there was like a creamy one or something so it’s not noticebale I have makeup, and she did tell me there was one like moisturiser but it isn’t good for coverage. It’s light coverage. Anyway so I thought this journey is going to be a little long so I thanked her for her help and went home to find out what I need to do.

I have wiped off all the makeup and rewiped it and all sorts and now near my right cheek, under my eye, kind of like on the bone, I feel like there is a little bumo asif I’m going to get acne again or something. I really don’t like that as I hardly put this thing on and it’s already affecting my skin - and for the past two weeks I have been extremely happy over my cheeks being clear from spots, and now I’m shattered because I’m scared it’s going to turn into one. I also don’t know what to do about this makeup thing - I don’t want to look like I’ve got makeup on, I’d rather look like I have cream on. The lady told me when she started wearing makeup it was a suprise to her too but that’s what makeup looks like. I did try dermalogica treatment foundation but that was no good, it just looked like my scars had been coloured a different colour.

Please help. :frowning:

Peace, I have many difficulties to interpret your message. I do not understand most of your writing. From what I understood, it seems you need a cosmetic to conceal skin imperfections.
I have understood that to hide red spots, apply a type of green makeup. Apparently the green with the red gives the color of our skin.
I know there are special makeup to hide varicose veins of the legs, maybe you can try that?

I do not know if my answer is related to your question. In any case, someone else can contribute?

peace: Maybe it was too thick of coverage. A tinted moisturizer will be less coverage and less obvious. Or maybe you can find a medium-coverage makeup that is in between the two. Or MAYBE you don’t need any at all since I’ve seen your skin and it looks perfectly fine by itself.

The makeup shouldn’t make you breakout. It’s non-comedogenic (I assume) so it can’t clog any pores. Only use non-comedogenic products. The only way it could cause a breakout is if you let it sit on your skin too long and it traps oil for the bacteria to feed on. But in my experience, it takes many hours for this to happen. Only happens to me if I don’t wash off the makeup before bed or something crazy like that so it’s on my face for 12+ hours.

However, you may be sensitive to it regardless. Or if your acne problem is really bad then anything on your face could make it worse. Maybe you should get your acne under control for now, and just use makeup to cover the red marks in the future?

I dunno, it’s SUCH a personal thing. What works for one person may not work for another. If you aren’t comfortable in makeup, then DON’T wear it! It’s only worth wearing if you are more uncomfortable in bare skin than you are in makeup.

http://www.acne.org/reviews/ - I think this website would be perfect for you. It’s got heaps of people who have acne who have reviewed a ton of products, rating them for effectiveness and if they get acne while using them. I don’t know if they have foundations, but I’m sure you’d be able to find some tinted moisturisers in there with reviews. Goodluck.

Many Acne sufferers find relief with 25,000 IU of vitamin A 4 times a day, along with 100 - 150 mg of zinc twice a day. It also wouldn’t hurt to up one’s vitamin C, magnesium and calcium.

And as always, avoid artificial sweeteners and artificial colors.

I don’t actually get acne right now. What I did have wasn’t the bad type and it was just clearing up. So I thought to cover the pits/scars, I’ll use makeup.

James, I have always noticed your posts on taking what you have mentioned. I just need to go to the store and get the stuff. I have found myself recommending to others what you have said and I tell them you advise us to do this.

I just can;t believe how unnatural that makeup looked, and it was so not my skin colour. Ew.

Thanks, spread the word. After all, many men would not have prostate problems if they just got their zinc levels up. In fact, one would not need Viagra if one had good levels of zinc and vitamin E.

From your pictures, all I see is someone who gets the odd pimple (which we all do!!). You may have had acne in the past but you certainly don’t know. If you want to see acne, come and look at my siblings, it will put things into perspective.

You don’t need makeup and nothing with a natural finish or look will cover the marks or redness anyway. I like a very light veil of foundation, so I don’t even try to hide my spots or marks.

I think makeup will just help even out the skin tone? Because from creams etc. it does cause your skin to look different colours and even the scars look a different colour. I just wanted coverage for that.

Now I have realised I have got acne on my nose, it must be from yesterday.

A spot or two on your nose isn’t acne!!!

No trust me it is. When it’s the small ones it is. Acne is on different levels, mild, moderate, more. I had aacne on my chin for ages and only after using so much cream has it finally gone, I do get it still you know.

You got some spots as a result of the makeup. I really don’t think it can be classed the same as acne.

You “broke out” a little bit, but when you say you “have acne” it can make some people think that you have chronic, inflamed pustules on your face.

I think most of us here are really sensitive to your word choice because we have/had severe acne, and we feel you are being too dramatic. I don’t think a brief reaction to makeup even classifies as “mild acne”. It’s just, I dunno, a reaction, maybe?

It’s like when stick-thin girls complain about how “fat” they are. It’s frustrating because it makes the TRULY overweight people feel even more insecure. Does that make sense? Hopefully it does. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, if you don’t like the makeup, then go without. I will repeat that I don’t think you need it after seeing your photos. You’re beautiful from the bits of you I could see.

I do call it acne because sometimes I get a lot of dots on my face, and it gets to me because it can go from mild to worse, because i have had it worse in the past, and I suffered a lot because of it.

I don’t intend to hurt anyone’s feelings here, but I have shown pictures and to be honest, they don’t give a true picture, a camera never will. To me, you guys have beautiful facial features which makes your face as a whole look good, but I don’t have that, so having acne, marks and that just makes it worse.

Trust me, I do need makeup. I don’t exactly want it, but my marks ruin my confidence, especially the one right in the centre of my nose. I never mean to hurt you guys, I don’t even do this for “attention” because I never talk about this but come on here to ask for advice. I hope you can forgive me for any offence you have taken from here.
