Not only is it possible, it is desireable. The hair only has to about 1/16 - 1/8 inch long to treat. With great magnification, it can be less long, but it can slow the best electrologist down if the hairs are barely above the skin.

How is your treatment with Sara going?
For anyone within a reasonable distance to Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire - I’ve found a few practitioners who do flash!
I’ve also found a blend practitioner in Brighton.
My sister’s progress so far.
She started on 1st April and had 3 sessions to date.
She had 45 mins at each session, the rest being on the upper lip but no visible difference yet (lots of hair!):
Also, the last picture was taken 9 days after the 2nd session. Our electrologist used some thermolysis for the area above the eyebrows during this session. After a day or two my sister developed pin point scabs but as you can see they didn’t last long and didn’t leave any marks on the skin!
Hi Stopit,
Your sister has made some good progress, you can really see a difference!
Hope you are well and getting on well with all your treatments.
Pokka x
Thanks for the pictures, stoppit.
Your sister is looking good. I personally like the combination of thermolysis and blend for the eyebrow area. It appears that the electrologist is doing a fine job.

Any more pics?
She has been busy with uni, so hasn’t had another appointment yet. Next one in a few days.
Here is my sister’s latest pic (at the end):
She started on 1st April 2010.
4th Session was on 8th May 2010.
After this session, you could really see a difference in the eyebrow and forehead region. The eyebrows looked a lot more sculpted. I think next time, she will need a little more work on the Glabella, especially the hairs that are on the sides of the top of the nose.
The upper lip also had about 20mins during this session and is now showing a visible improvement. Only to us though, because we know what it looked like before. Other people have noticed the eyebrows which means they have definitely improved.
I have to say that I think this is a perfect example of when I tell people that as soon as you start you are on your way. One doesn’t need to feel down about the overall time scale, in fact, I rarely think about it for myself. Every week my sister has a session, she gets an improvement, once she’s happy with the level of removal, she just needs to work on the maintenance for however long that takes.
I feel that a lot of people who don’t know much about electrolysis think that every few weeks, one will revert back to the “before” look. In the same way you would if you plucked/threaded/waxed.
p.s. on my recommendation she has been using witch hazel before bed on her cheeks and forehead for her acne. she hasn’t had any new spots and the scars are fading much faster.
Where do you & other UK people get your tea tree oil, aloe vera and witch hazel from? Is it 100%?
Tea tree oil - Holland and Barretts (buy one get one free)
Aloe vera - plant
Witch Hazel - Boots
Hi smurf. I used to get the small bottles of TTOil from body shop (16% dilution). Now I get 100% pure australian TTOil (dilute myself) and Witch Hazel water from naturallythinking.com
But I also use the full of chemicals Witch Doctor Witch Hazel Treatment Gel
Your sister’s pictures show dramatic improvement after four sessions, especially above the eyebrow. She looks like she never had a problem and this look can be maintained from now until the end (permanence). This is what a skilled electrologist is capable of doing. I wish there were more like yours stoppit on every corner, in every country. Beautiful pictures.
Your sister is lucky that her electrologist respects the natural beauty of nice strong brows. It looks great. I would be careful of taking too much from the inner corners. It’s always better to pluck than have a bad shape for life.
Thanks candela. My electrologist (as I have said many times) is very good. I trust her but I’m also very anal. In the first few treatments I directed her a lot. I took close up pics highlighted the areas for hair removal. And she has enough sense how to remove them and make it look blended with the rest.
This is pretty much the kind of treatment I urge everyone to find. Hence my constant referral to it.
I’ve been checking the links in this thread and I was wondering if any of you has any up-to-date recommendations concerning electrolysis (for men, to be more specific) in or around London. It’d be much appreciated!
These ARE up-to-date. You can see the see dates in the upper right corner of each posts. This conversation was just happening this month.
You need to provide more information. For example, what area are you looking to treat? What type of hair? How much removal?
hi trentz,
as LAgirl has mentioned, this thread is up to date.
my electrologist (and 3 other BIAE registered electrologists) work at Parkside Beauty Centre
you will see that there is a section for ‘mens treatments’ as well
Dear All,
I am sorry to high jack this topic but please may I suggest you review my topic titled:
“UK Electrologist Referral >>> ATTN UK READERS”
Many thanks.
Hi everyone,
It’s been a while - I haven’t had many appointments in the last few months due to lack of time. Today I also had an appointment with another Parkside electrologist, Livia, encouraged after reading peace1’s post so I thought I’d write about my experience too.
The push to try someone different mostly came because the last app I had was in September after a 6 week break. I only managed to get 30mins with Sharon at short notice and the subsequent 45min appointment I booked to complete the session, I had to cancel. Now Sharon is on holiday and I didn’t really want to leave some areas any longer, so inspired by peace’s post, booked an hour with Livia.
However, contrary to peace’s experience I didn’t find much difference between the way the two electrologists worked in respect to insertions, removing treated hair or pain. Livia used the same settings on my card. The only noticeable difference was on the facial treatment.
I had 15 mins on the face - few mins to clear the upper lip and the rest on the chin/jawline.
(It’s important to note that other than my upper lip, I do not go for clearance. I bleach my downy facial hair and am just after a reduction of the ‘peach fuzz’ - mostly just the hairs that don’t bleach easily or are longer or stick out. So I just ask for say, “5mins on the chin”, “10mins on the side of the face”, working on whatever appears most obvious).
The only differences I noted in Livia’s treatment are;
(1) She removed the needle from the follicle just before the blend timer beeped which increased speed a little. Not sure what effect it will have that the needle isn’t in the follicle for the entire set duration.
(2) Selected her next hair very quickly and went for it. On this second point, I’ve had the same kind of treatment with Sharon on occasion (i.e. first clearances on upper lip) but usually Sharon spends more time (maybe a second or two) looking at the growth (brushing the hair in the opposite direction) to select the most obvious hairs in the area, which I’m more than happy with.
10mins thermolysis to clear underarms (5mins on either)
On this area, I could not see any difference between the two electrologists. The speed was the same (as was the pain!). I usually watch while this area is being treated and I really didn’t notice any differences.
The remaining time (~35mins) was used to clear the top of the feet and toes with blend for the first time. Ouch - I didn’t expect it to be so painful. Livia did this area in the usual way, waiting for the blend timer beep before removing the needle, then removing the hair.
To sum up, everyone knows I rate Sharon very highly and Livia seems just as good. I think who you choose depends on what you’re after for the area in question because perhaps Livia is a little less discriminatory towards facial hairs and just ‘goes for it’. As I have mentioned many times, Parkside has 4 BIAE registered electrologists and I have no doubt that they all offer very good treatment.
